The cost of medicine isn't really that much different to another course in terms of $/year

If you like that aspect of medicine but you just don't want to practice, yeah do biomedicine and you can always decide later. Worked for me.
Postgrad Med is a little more difficult in that you also have to take into account the Bonded and MRBS places. So i assume if you take up one of those positions then you will have to practice for a while (4 years), unless you want to pay them back which i believe is an option.

Studying MD without being a doctor?  Isn't that like buying a Ferrari without driving/looking at it?

Those exist for undergrad as well, but my point is that medicine fees are very similar to fees for other courses. You don't really have to take those positions into account if you never intend to practice as a doctor.

I think he means if you do a bonded place with no intention of becoming a doctor, you'll have to pay the government, although i don't think the government can do anything except for revoke your (nonexistent) license if you don't pay them, not sure

Lol, you're just not allowed to practice till you pay up/do your bond, if you never practice, they can't do anything to you.

Um... You are allowed to practice LOL. Otherwise everyone would be forced to start the Bond right after intern year, which is clearly not the case.

Maybe you guys are getting confused with the MRBS, where the govt actually pulls your license if you don't do the time in rural/regional areas.

BMP puts no restrictions on you until 15 years after graduating, at which point if you haven't worked in a rural area they come looking for money (or for pro-rated money). MRBS is the same but they take your license for 10 years as well.

Oh right, I see. Yeah assuming you took the place (why?) then you would have to unless you could get the health minister to approve otherwise (plausible if you're not practising and have a reason for it?)

It's not that much of a loophole.
