Methods OR Health

hey guys.
im in year 11 right now and have done methods 1&2.

i want to do medicine at university. but since most of the universities i want to get into such as UQ and Monash, dont require methods as a pre-requisite, ive been thinking of dropping it and picking up health and human development 3&4 next year. this is because i am better at the science side of things than at maths. also i have the other pre-requisites for getting into med at those universities.

please reply as subject selection is on heads.

Another med-wannabee hahaha, good luck :)

I would still choose methods. Why? Because getting into med is not something one can *expect* to happen. Hence, you need to be prepared for back-up degrees. And having methods will help you a LOT more in these back-up degrees.

i agree doing methods will help you a lot say you dont get the score you need and even for the studies in uni
however you might be able to do better in health and get a great score so you dont need to worry about other stuff

but id still do methods if i were you
xx :D

im only going to try the provisional entry pathway and not the postgraduate ones.
for the provisional entry pathways, all the degrees ive looked at, you dont need methods or mathematics B.

Yes, but for prov entry UQ (for example), you need an OP1 ranking (99+ ATAR). Looking at your sig, that doesn't look like a 99+ ATAR to me (way too many subjects lol) in a realistic sense :/

edit: even if you do get all those 50s, ATARcalc says 98.90, so yeah. That would only cut UQ prov entry because of your LOTE, other unis don't have such schemes. Hence, it's worth checking out back-up options.

Do methods
You are already doing three sciences.
You would be surprised how much it scales even if you do not so well :)
It will give you a lot more flexibility in the future in terms of course choices as mentioned before

Methods. I just came out of a methods exam then and I can tell you that it's a pretty easy subject relative to its scaling (+6) and hence you have a higher chance of getting your 99+ ATAR if you do it.
Also, methods and chemistry are like the 2 biggest prerequisites for most science courses, so if you do those 2 subjects, then you will easily be able to get into something like a Bachelor of Science at Monash or Melbourne and then transfer later into medicine.
