solid of revolution

How do you go about finding the solid of revolution around the y-axis of a function when it cant be transposed to make y the subject (cant find the inverse by hand). I don't have the specific question but i remember coming across it a while back.

what do you mean ? sorta unclear, around the y-axis is x^2?

Yes but when you cant find x^2 in terms of y there is another way to find the volume using the original function and minusing something...
