In a nutshell, for your SACs, it's not what mark you get - it's where you rank compared to everyone else who is doing Accounting 3+4.

For the exams, here is a really good place to see what mark last year's Accounting cohort needed to get in order to achieve an A+, A, B+, etc.  It may not be accurate for this year but at least it gives you an indication of what you want to be aiming for in order to get that top mark.

In case if you're having trouble interpreting the report, you need at least 152/180 in the first exam in order to qualify for a low A+ and for exam 2, you need at least 150/180.

Each paper is marked by 2 examiners, who give their own marks respective of their views on the quality of the answers provided.

The discrepancies in marks awarded I would assume would mainly occur in the theory questions as these can be very subjective at times.

I don't think accounting has had 2 examiners in the past...usually it's just stuff like English that always does. However, whenever you get a statement of marks, they remark your exam and that's where the doubling occurs, and that's why it's out of 180 in all cases since it avoids VCAA having to write half marks. Normally they just double the mark for those who don't get a statement, but for those who do, then yeh, they add the two scores together. Like for my Biology mid-year which I got a statement for, I ended up getting an odd number for my total mark since one examiner gave me a mark and the other didn't.

oh ok that makes a bit of sense now and as Gloamglozer said if 152 for a low A+ does that mean i need about 72 for each marking or assessment to get that?

On the other hand if you meant 76, then yes. You should expect equal marks from both examiners in something not quite as subjective like Accounting so yeh, 76 should do it.
