It really shouldn't vary with Lit. Probably about 68-70.

what does that actually mean though? I thought it was 18/20 for both essays for an A+

Two essays, each marked out of 20 by two examiners. So you get a total score out of 80.

It's also a bit lower than that for an A+ - more like a 17/20 usually.

I'm currently disheartened at how my second essay turned out to be honest. WHat a disappointing end to the year

I don't really know at this point. During the practice exams, i realized that if I go into the exam and just write and write and write without stopping- when I look back at my essay its not only sloppy but it sounds ugly and unrefined. So what I did throughout the whole two essays was I wrote one sentence and then I stopped, went back and looked over it, then thought of what I could write next but in the best sounding way. I did that for every sentence throughout the whole essay and I forced myself to promise myself to do it no matter how afraid I get as I looked up at the clock and saw that it was ticking away. my first essay was okay I guess- i can't really remember (i must have suppressed the memory in some fit of horror) but I remember not having much to say on the second essay! All I could remember before going into my exam was that "literature advice thread" where it wrote in bold, something along the lines: "expression comes first"
I really can't tell how I went though- i think my mind distorts what really happened the more I attempt to think about it. But all I can go on is that I didn't leave the exam room feeling happy.

On a different note- your brain must have really started ticking in the 2nd essay!! My brain sort of gave up after doing the tiring check+check method lolol

Expression is important, but expression also comes with flow. You don't need to beat yourself up after every sentence! I had to learn this too.

yeah Lozamatron is right, expression is very important and because you made sure each sentence was to the best of you ability, have confidence that you scored high!  ;D
hmm now that i think about it, I wish i did that check+check method for my first essay, hahaha!
