Hey guys,
In question 4a, of VCAA 2004 Exam 2, is there a way to figure out the cathode reaction, other than basically 'subtracting' the anode reaction from the overall reaction?
And in question 5ci, why would there be no change, even when the [NaCl] is changed to 6 M, i thought that Na (s) would form?

The Eo value for Na+/Na is so much different to the Eo value of H2O/H2 + OH- that even increasing [NaCl] to 6 M would not cause Na to be deposited on the cathode.

Is that supposed to be assumed knowledge?
Also is it correct to interchangeably use terms like 'equilibria is pushed to the...,' 'there's a net forward reaction,' or 'there's a net shift to the...' Are these terms the same?

That's the thing. I'm quite surprised at that question. I'm not entirely sure whether you had to know the diaphragm cell off by heart in the old study design...

As for the second question, that's fine.

Yea i was surprised too, I swear in Checkpoints, they said even with 5 M of Brine, the sodium will be reduced...
