That space question...
« on: November 12, 2012, 05:42:07 pm »
Two quick queries.

1) What the hell were they trying to test with it? Our ability to copy out ridiculously ugly expressions? How well we can transcribe horrible equations?

2) I was lazy. I said let = *whatever was inside the brackets of the sin and cos* and worked from there. Would I be penalised for this? Seems unfair if they want us to write out the full thing every single friggin' time.

That was SO uncool!

Needed multiple lines for what would normally be just one line of working :|

Could you guys prove that the acceleration and velocity were perpendicular? Couldn't see half the numbers on the screen so I could have made an error anywhere for that working lol

There was so much working that I just said v(t).a(t)=0, then wrote out the vector components multiplying, then said that equals zero. :P

I just said v(t) dot a(t) = -6400sin(u)cos(u) + 6400sin(u)cos(u) where u = pi*(1.3t - 0.1)
Therefore v(t) dot a(t) = 0
Therefore they are perpendicular

i did that too :P. They took it too far with that question

I actually got mad when they made us do that in such a tiny amount of working space.
Just wrote out v(t).a(t) = 0 and "Put it into calc. P.S give more space plox"

part a) i got t=1/13 and i substituted that into 6800cos(pi(1.3*t-0.1)-6400 and kept getting -5703.68 which seems like a ridiculous answer. what did everyone else get?
