Do many schools allow it?

Given that little knowledge from Units 1 and 2 are required for 3 + 4, and are probably smart enough, so........

What do you mean little knowledge is required? Doing 1+2 is absolutely essential to doing 3+4 if u wanna do well. Sure, u cud do it, but it will be made a whole lot more harder.

My school offers 1/2 in year 10, which is probably why so many year 11s take the subject.

I don't think you really need 1/2 though. Although vectors and basic electrical principles crop up a lot in Units 3/4, you could learn them over the summer break.

Yea, but I remember it was only Kinematics and some Electronics that was relevant, but was rather basic. There's also Optics, which would be relevant if you are doing that Detailed Study in 3+4

i know many people who have done it in year 11 and gotten good scores as well. The basis of unit 1/2 has least importance compared to unit 1/2 of chem, thus by saying that chem 3/4 in year 11 would be harder in my opinion.

As Edmund said kinematics/electronics from unit 1/2 (so basic though) is relevant to unit 3/4 and th other part is depending on the detailed study. My schools doesnt do the detailed study which has that specific part of the course, so we put less emphasis on it, or we recommend people to do 3/4 instead of 1/2.
