I was just reading a book the other day and it had a sentence which has had me thinking for ages. I thought I'd share it with you and see what your responses are.

Quote
An 18 year old is simply three 6 year olds stacked on top of each other.

Bahahahaha!!!  ;D ;D ;D

What's the context?
"A lot of people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm afraid of widths." - Steven Wright

"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." - Benjamin Franklin

"Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward." - Victor Kiam

"Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive." - Elbert Hubbard

"Any kid will run any errand for you, if you ask at bedtime." - Red Skelton

"Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible." - Dalai Lama

I love the quotes in your sig :)

I like that quote. Give e the title of the book, I'm going to read it. Hmmm. This quote is...puzzling.

The Lot: In Words by Michael Leunig. It challenges a lot of the ideas you have about the world around you. It's one of the texts for Whose Reality?.

OH YEA. My teacher recommended me that book when I did year 12. But I didn't read it since it would probs confuse me with the different contexts....and the fact that it was expensive on Ebay

It's a good book if you're into some real thought-provokers. I personally tend to enjoy a simple plot-based novel a lot more, rather than a compilation of many essays.

Does it mean that 18-year-olds are more immature than than 6 year olds?

I don't know what it means! If I knew, I'd be Michael Leunig. There's a hell of a lot of ideas that run through my mind at the thought. :P

Tbh, I care more about how you, as a reader, interpret the quote rather than what the writer intended to imply.

When I first read the quote, my simple mind just thought it meant that an 18 year-old is 3 times taller than a 6 year-old. LOL. *facepalm.

But, I think it has to do with the cycle of life. That we somehow immaturely behave the same way we did when we were 6, except somehow disguised in society. That we have somehow transformed into a toddler version of adulthood, where we experiment with everything, don't want to listen to our parents and nag/insist that we must buy that item.

That's similar to what I thought at first glance.

I had a fairly similar first impression. Although, I also imagined three 6 year olds stacked on top of each other and realised they'd be very unstable, so then I thought of drunk teenagers. :P

I thought that it had something to do with 18 year olds being thrice as knowledgeable as a 6-year old
