Hey no worries mate :)

I think your pencil case should be fine. If it's holding everything together now, I don't see the need for a new one.
With regards to bound references, I strongly recommend you make your own because then it's tailored to you. You'll know what you're struggling in so you can emphasis in those areas more. You'll also know where everything is so it would help save time during the exam.

Also, I'm using my bound reference as a summary book as well, so after each little topic, I'll add to it. This will also help me remember things better.

I don't want to use pencils because I want to see my errors and how I can improve. I know crossing out is a waste of paper, but personally, I think it's worth it.

I'll probably write my own bound reference throughout the year, but if I get too lazy or have too much work on my plate I might give up and use Derrick ha since it was made to be used as a bound reference.

But when crossing everything out, doesn't it get confusing?

But when crossing everything out, doesn't it get confusing?

In terms of the reference book, what I did for spesh was I bought a 240-page book and split it up into separate sections for the different topics. My teacher laid out all the topics nicely, so all I had to do was divide them. So for each topic, there was enough space to write different summaries and paste sample questions and whatnot. I personally would recommend doing one for yourself - I was just going to bring in my teacher's summary notes but found that I needed specific help for specific topics (eg vector proofs) which meant that I wrote heaps of vector proofs in my book, but less of everything else.

If you're talking about crossing things out on your workbook, it doesn't get confusing because if you're like me, you won't re-read your work. I had 1 book for class notes and another for my exercises, so I only had to flip through my class notes and reference book before exams, and didn't worry about my workbook. Personally, I think just crossing things out saves a lot of time! :D

OMG I LOVE THESE DISCUSSIONS <3
You see, officeworks back to school trips are actually one of the most exciting things, EVER.
Anyway, this is my plan:
I'll be getting a small pencil case (big enough to fit a CAS though), as its easier to carry around, and in it:
- CAS
- Sharp scientific calc (maybe)
- A metal 15cm ruler or one of those rulers that folds out to become a 30cm ruler
- Highlighters (what's a good brand for long-lasting, good quality highlighters? I was thinking of getting staedlar because they're so inky)
- A bic or papermate 0.7 pacer (and on the topic of pencils, I think they're much better than using pen for maths subjects.. Even though rubbing out may take time, it ensures that everything is set out neatly and is just so much better! I couldn't imagine doing maths without my pacer!)
- A good rubber (probably the paper mate $1 ones I usually buy)
- Red, blue and black papermate inkjoy pens.. Although they run out quite fast, I loooove them! I write quite a lot, so I get blisters on my thumb area.. but ever since I started using these pens, my writing has been soooo smooth and there's been no blisters!!
- My bic 4-pen with pink, purple, light blue and light green ink, for times when I need to use colour!
- And sticky notes and tabs for annotations and notes

For my subjects:
-120-page colourhide spiral books for methods and further
- English, a 4-ring binder with refills, dividers, plastic pockets, etc.. I'm planning on doing what I did last year and dividing the folder into 3 parts for the 3 sections and going from there
- Legal & Health: Since there's a lot of writing and handouts involved, and my teachers prefer that we hand in loose sheets I'll also be using 4-ring binders, but I might just come to school with a document wallet or something and then transfer the sheets into my binders when I get home, because I hate carrying around more than 1 folder!!

Lol, let's just hope I stick to this for at least the first term :P

I began to slack off even during head start hahaha. You'll see the first page is ruled up in red, title in black sub headings etc... then slowly, everything will be in black, then pages aren't ruled up and worse and worse... :P

I have to make sure I do follow everything so it helps at the end of the year.

I will invest in some papermate inkjoy pens if they are recommended so highly by you.

I think for most of my subjects bar accounting, I will buy those 5 subject books.

HAHA I guarantee that this will happen sooner rather than later unfortunately.

In Year 12, all I had was a 240 page 5 subject notebook, blue/black/red pen, pacer and rubber!
