just out of curiosity,

if someone was ranked last yet scored 100% on their exam, would they get a 50?

No, they'd get whoever's mark was last on the exam as their SAC mark and keep the 100%.

almost certainly not because sacs still make up for 33-50% of your study score and if you do horribly in them it wont be enough to get you a 50 because the people who get 50s have close to full mark or full mark sacs and full mark exams (or close to)

Only if the worst exam score in the cohort was still very high.

What happens if I'm ranked 4th - weak cohort and I get the highest exam mark 75/80... Is my chance of getting a 45+ limited? Since I'm not ranked first

it would depend on what the 4th highest exam score in your cohort is - as that will become your sac score.

Seen this question so many times before and the answer is actually yes apparently, sacs don't even get considered really if the person aces the exam

nah it doesnt work like that, they take it all into account and weight it accordingly. sure if you get 70/100 sacs after scaling and 100% exams you will get over 40 but you cant get a 50 because there will be kids with 100/100 sacs and full mark exams, VCAA cant say to someone whose worked hard all year "nah lol u dont get a 50 because this person came out from low sacs to 100% exam, her improvement is more so she gets the 50"
because at the end of the day the study score is just where you rank in the state, so they have to look at all criteria when they rank you
