I'm not too sure on the specifics however I've been told there are differences (may be minor) b/w MD and MBBS.

Undergrad MBBS @ Monash (direct entry) is a shorter compared to MD @ UoM since you need a undergrad degree in BioMed or BSci to get into MD (3 years + 4 of MD).
You need an adequate UMAT percentile, ATAR and interview for Undergrad MBBS @ Monash. In saying that postgrad MBBS @ Monash (same process as MD at UoM - need a undergrad) takes 7 years iirc.

Benefits of each? I'm not too sure. You might want to ask students currently undertaking the course or the universities themselves.

also, one question i've had on my mind for a while, why choose biomed over science?
on the uom website it seems to show that in science you can do all the things you do in med plus more. The only thing biomed has that science doesn't (from what ive observed) is that it has a higher ATAR requirement for entry..
