No, I suspect many students enjoy it. I don't for various reasons which seem to be out of my control all the time

I don't, partly because my social life consists of surfing ATARNotes
whilst you need to make sacrifices in year 12, I don't think that your social life should consist solely of surfing ATARNotes. If you've been studying during the day then I don't see any problem going out at night?

Spot on! Mostly the results, besides busman, I have been really happy with my results so far and I just can't wait to get the rest of my SACs back!

I actually like doing SACs 0_0
Studying for them isn't always enjoyable...currently reading King Henry IV for English  :'(

I don't I'm failing three subjects, topping one subject and coming like 4/40 in another. But I am a massive dropkick.

I don't mind it :) I quite enjoy the satisfaction of good results, because it's an affirmation in the fact that my hard work has paid off. I also often find myself envisaging the 15th of December, and opening that text from VTAC with my dream ATAR, and that's honestly my primary source of motivation. I can say this from Biology and Further results - it really confirmed to me, not just academically, but in general, that I was capable of scoring well, and no one, NO one, could tell me I couldn't do anything I had set my mind on.

How do you guys get exceptional SAC marks?

I think it's a matter of studying smart, not hard. Ask as many questions as possible, get your hands on as many bits of practice material as possible - basically anything that'll assist you in maximising your scores. :)

I understand the studying smart and not hard analogy. To be honest, I always find this a difficult component to balance. E.g. sometimes I don't even know what studying smart is... Depends on the subject I presume. E.g. for Australian Politics in the first SAC I completed heaps of practice SACs and didn't do any further notes. Then in the second SAC I did heaps of practice SACs + refined notes. And there was only +1% difference....

I always feel as though 'my hard work' never pays off. I am constantly searching for the reasons as to why this is the case...

And once you study hard but don't get the marks you want, this hurts like hell. I remember when I failed my first Further Maths SAC I was crying so much and didn't speak to anyone for 2 days.

took the words right out of my mouth. Whilst i'm not one that always studies hard (or even smart), the studying that I do do is very efficient.

sounds good!! I was overseas when results came out last year but this year I intend to get absolutely smashed with mates on the 15th night haha

I don't foresee it as a problem either but my parents hold a different perspective. Unfortunately some Asian parents are really adamant when it comes to their child's social life during year 12 :-\
IMO going out/social life benefits your studies if anything...luckily my parents see this and understand that if I want to do well I will do work on my own. I think having an older brother makes it easy, he sure had it a lot harder than I did!
Try talking to your parents and enforcing the idea that you can do well and you do study, and that going out a few days will be help you

Know the feeling! Doing a sport is just as, maybe even better, important that socialising. It seriously lets you escape year 12 pressure, relaxes you for that period of time and reality really does seem to fade away... Until you remember you have a SAC the next day  :P

Spot on! Mostly the results, besides busman, I have been really happy with my results so far and I just can't wait to get the rest of my SACs back!

Dat anticipation though! Especially when you know you've aced it haha.

Head up! Still far from over! You never know where your exams take you.

it really confirmed to me, not just academically, but in general, that I was capable of scoring well, and no one, NO one, could tell me I couldn't do anything I had set my mind on.
Man, you're one motivational person!  8)

Man we've all been there. Just a few weeks ago I didn't do as well as I hoped for (especially the amount of revision I put in), and yes I was depressed, but it clicked to me. What's the point of being upset about the result? Nothing can change it now. There really isn't any changing it you know? So why waste time reminding ourselves we did bad? Only thing left is for us to ace our upcoming SACs and most importantly the exams!

Plus there's nothing wrong with letting emotions out, stay strong. Speaking to someone will help dude. Good luck  :)

What works for me now isn't just the extra study which i'm now doing, it's annotations i'm doing on my SACS.

Whether is be highlighting key words and phrases, or circling things like "round to 2 decimal places" in Further, it's starting to diminish my lack of an ability to answer the question directly or make silly rounding errors in Math.

I believe that it's the smaller things like that that will make all the difference to me come exam time.

Thinking back to last year, the night before results day was probably the night where I got the worst sleep in the whole year. It was exciting and also nerve-racking at the same time.

took the words right out of my mouth. Whilst i'm not one that always studies hard (or even smart), the studying that I do do is very efficient.
I try to do things efficiently also. I haven't actually been working too hard at Year 12 so far because of careful planning and organisation (probably less than an hour a night on average), but as we near exams I'll be slowly upping my effort and time involved in studies.

Too true. Everything.

I mean I'm probably doing about 2-3 hours a night of homework, and I'm finally starting to see that pay off in terms of my languages especially, but bloody hell, methods + chem. No matter how much time I invest in both of them, the SACs are a wipeout. It's really frustrating and I will definitely be using the next month (have 3 weeks of holidays after next week) to just smash it out and get ahead.

I'm so annoyed with myself, this whole year has seemed more like pushing to just not fall behind as opposed to comfortably knowing the coursework and just reinforcing my knowledge as the assessments come.
