For anyone doing "encountering conflict", can you guys take a lucky guess as to what the prompt will be this year? obviously there is a very slim chance we'll guess what it would be word for word lol but just wanna see which "big idea" you guys think this years prompt might relate to? maybe based on previous vcaa prompts?
i'm gonna guess it'll have something to do with the benefits of conflict (like resulting in social progression or s/t). i'd probably cry with happiness if it ended up being something like that - but knowing my luck it definitely won't :P

I'd be crying with happiness if it's anything to do with how people deal with conflict. But tbh, they seem i guess, "easy" so vcaa probably do that. if it's something to do with benefits of conflict, that won't be bad too.

All four texts relate to clash of ideology/beliefs/philosophies, so maybe something to do with the cause of conflict? Also, all texts don't offer a clear or satisfying resolution either, so it could be about the difficulty of resolving conflicts. That's my prediction  :)

This would be the easiest prompt I would cry of happiness too haha

Thanks for the input aqple! Good insight, if it's resolution, that's okay too. Hopefully it's not cause of conflict though...

Only thing I am looking forward to in the English Exam is writing as Christopher Hitchens, his egotistical persona and classy wit will be a pleasure to write with. The Hitch rules!

Taking most of the day off study tomorrow. Might write an essay or two but planning to do nothing except play basketball to clear my mind and serve as a last relaxation period before exams. Anyone doing something similar?

Unfortunately not myanacondadont ... There's a bunch of practice exams lying on my table and I haven't finished making my bound reference books and cheat sheet (Physics) yet.  :(

I'm the complete opposite. I'm the type of guy who is still reading his notes while walking into a test, lol.

This ^.

I feel as though I'm stressing way too much about it. It's been one of my best subjects all year but it's something about three essays in three hours... Urgh. Can't wait until it's over/until we're all here discussing it on Wednesday arvo/evening... four days away!!!

I think I'll be a LOT more relaxed when English is over, but I 100% agree with you on this! It's probably my best subject this year, but the prospect of 3 essays in three hours + the uncertainty of the questions for TR, the prompt for context and the piece for LA all adds up to make it seem so daunting! Nevertheless, we'll get through it.

Who here is intent on post-exam discussions? I feel like I don't want to engage in that because it may be disheartening. Not so much for English, because there's no real right or wrong answer. But for things like Math or Science subjects, it's kind of like blergh!

^ This exactly. Now that I think about it it's just the uncertainty of it. But my exams go until the 17th :'(

I am the same as many and am probably freaking out the most about English. As has been mentioned, the uncertainty of it all is slightly terrifying, and I'm trying not to linger on the scariness of it too much because I just become counterproductive.

In terms of post-exam discussion, I utterly agree with you, Yacoubb. Last year I went through all of the answers for the methods exam and even checked through my calculator history to see what I put down, and was pretty devo after realising all of the things I got wrong. Lingering on past tests/exams just gets me in a terrible headspace.

I just have to keep imagining how I'm going to feel on 18 Nov 5:15 pm to get me through. Not much longer now.

What?! Why are you guys stressed over English? I feel so relaxed about English exactly due to its uncertainties - there is so much we can do to prepare! I am stressing over Methods (especially given 2013 exam!) and Spesh! Argh haha - maybe I am taking things too easily! :S (getting slightly worried that I am, lol).
