Hey mods, just a question, I'm pretty sure I had 1000+ posts, why do I have 750 now?? Basically 300 posts of mine were deleted??
2013-2014:| VCE
2015-2018:| Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) @ UoM
2019-X:| Doctor of Dental Surgery (discontinued)
2019 -2021:| Master of Physiotherapy

Currently: Physiotherapist working at a musculoskeletal clinic. Back pain, sore neck, headaches or any other pain limiting your study? Give me a PM (although please do see your personal health professional first!)

Any questions related to pathways towards studying dentistry or physiotherapy? Gimmi a PM!

What has developed in this thread is an "us" vs. "them" mentality, where a few key posters have developed their own popular circle and readily exclude others. This isn't okay. AN shouldn't be a reflection of petty schoolyard politics.
Mod Action: Unlocked, moved.

My grad year is 2015 and while I've found this site really helpful while dealing with my 2 3/4's this year - if the fact that I've decided to put my 2 cents in when you clearly want it dropped annoys you enough to ban me from the site, well so be it.

I'm not part of the "popular circle" and tend to lurk in the shadows rather than contribute but I was one of the people who down-voted and I'm not sorry I did.   At the time I was disappointed to learn that there had been "random down voting" and my down vote was for that admission.   Doesn't the down vote exist so you can show your disapproval without attacking the person in a public forum?

Personally I think you moving the 2014 thread is more petty and vindictive than any GTFO or down voting.

I think because this has been moved to the Water Cooler and posts in this thread aren't counted. Same with me.

Look, I'm happy to lock it again if you don't want to post in here without being able to upvote and downvote. That function is no longer necessary for this thread. It is intended to govern the tutoring system, which is intended to be a (quite loose) reflection of tutoring ability. Eg - Look at the people on the first page, scan their posts, and you'll see how much effort they've put in (Bcubed on the Math thread, TT in math, etc). If you want upvotes, go and help some Year 11s academically. I can pick a few posts in this thread alone that would get upvoted undeservedly - heavy breath (+50 upvotes) - "ATARs are soon!" (9000+ upvotes) etc. It's not necessary, it's not coming back.

If you think you're being oppressed or believe that ATAR Notes is now a horrible place, you have options to appeal. Please direct all your appeals to [email protected]

So basically the mods are allowed to randomly move threads without real reason? If you want to eliminate the 'upvotes/downvotes issue' then you'll need to do a lot more than just move us around. We were complaining because the class isn't finished yet, at least not in our eyes, I don't see how it's all done and dusted until we get our results on the 15th. What does it matter if it stays for a little longer anyway?

Exactly what I figured.

Hint: Mods are going to lock this thread if you don't stop persisting with this :S Please don't... we still want to discuss our ATARs ;)

Also, Ned Nerb has basically answered your question.

(Hint: all appeals will be unsuccessful, people who continue to be annoying and complain will just be dealt bans the length of numbers I pull out of a hat). Fyrefly just wrote a beautiful and elegant post to tell you to act your age and move on, so do it.
ehh not that I particularly care about having respect in this thread, but a good portion of respect given out is not given out 'deservedly'. usually it's not 'helpful' posts that get respect (though that certainly can be the case) but joke posts and the like. not that there's anything wrong with the respect system as is, but it's never going to be an indication of 'tutoring ability', not even loosely.

No need to be harsh about it. The complaints were valid. Anyway, seems like the issues are now solved  ;D

Livid I lost my >1000 post count though :P

So basically the mods are allowed to randomly move threads without real reason?

There was a reason. This thread is no longer relevant to VCE discussion now that VCE is over. Any further discussion in this thread is now "casual chat". This isn't new news because we hate you (or whatever reason you want to conjure up *swish and flick*), you'll find the old Class of 2013 threads in this board too.

All posts in the "Forum Games and Casual Chat" board do not count towards post-count, hence if you have posted here your post count will have decreased. It's not really a big deal. No one should have lost any respect that they gained from this thread.

Good luck with ATARs and your future academic pursuits.

(re-posted due to Moderator action: split constructive discussion regarding improvements to respect system)

There was no "us vs them mentality" it's a generalization of literally 1 post  - it's not like the younger posters like TheAspiringDoc ever got called out on being young.

But hey, looks like a certain someone got more salty than the dead sea. ::)
is this statement directed at me? if so, i don't see how i'm "salty" for acknowledging someone's apology.
yup I don't see how the whole class of 2014 needs to be punished for the thoughtless actions of a few. The us vs them mentality reflects a minority. It's like removing the whole UOM chat/locking it because some guy decided to be a dick there by excluding a Monash guy for no reason. It simply makes no sense - I have seen chunks of UOM chats that were unproductive moved to public recycle bin, I think that would have been more appropriate in our scenario.
I just got annoyed at the time of the user "downvoting" another's post expressing their condolences to the death of a person.
What has developed in this thread is an "us" vs. "them" mentality, where a few key posters have developed their own popular circle and readily exclude others. This isn't okay. AN shouldn't be a reflection of petty schoolyard politics.
Now THIS has completely gone off on another tangent, if i implied that in any way, then i would be telling people to back off if they aren't a 2014er or is a 2014er but don't post so frequently in this thread. I seriously couldn't care less about who posts in this thread, but i felt as though i was giving the message that if they continue with that behaviour, they should consider doing that elsewhere.
Geez, this is my last post on this petty issue, have a good night.
