I have made quite a few friends already, getting to know people wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be.
It may seem scary to go up to some complete random and introduce yourself for the first time but once you get used to it it's totally fine since the chances are they are looking for friends too!
From my very limited experience, the easiest way to keep in contact with them is to add them on fb when you feel like you're familiar enough with them. Works every single time, everyone is very welcoming and happy to have more friends (especially if they're a first year)
Really great news ! That cute insta picture ?

It's not that I'm afraid to talk to randoms (I do it on a daily basis

), it's just that the people in my course are not friendly. At all. Hence I've made friends at uni, just not in my course. Which actually really sucks..tutes are gonna be interesting :/
As for keeping in contact, I just asked people for their number and then just started texting them
Of course, this only works if both of you have passed that awkward "I don't know what to say" phase haha. I haven't added anyone on Facebook just because I find it too intrusive amongst other personal reasons. Numbers are much easier I find
Exactly this, because everyone else is out to make friends as well.
Just skip the initial awkwardness and say anything. There is nothing wrong you can do by introducing yourself, or saying hi, or commenting on how that lion on south lawn gives great hugs.
Melbourne Uni..get out ! #monashmasterrace
