An exaggeration. It made me feel a lot better and more willing to wear them.

Well, you have a number of options, other than just getting used to the glasses over time :P

  • Depending on how bad your vision actually is, you could only wear your glasses for class etc. However, I DON'T recommend this as you may get headaches from taking on/off your glasses, as well as potential hazard to yourself (crossing roads, etc)
  • Get contacts. I haven't personally used them, but I've heard they're nothing to worry about, and not uncomfortable or expensive at all. Consult your optometrist, as depending on your eye condition, you may not be able to wear contacts (though this situation is rare :) )
  • Laser eye surgery is also an option, and is very effective. However, it is fairly expensive. Again, consult your optometrist/opthalmologist for more information

Best of luck with whatever you choose!

For 1. I don't see the problem I do it all the time, so do my friends. If your prescription is low, you only need it to see the board.

I've had glasses since i was 11 and my eyesight hasn't changed since I was 13 and I hardly wear my glasses anymore. I don't advise it but you can go without them if you are that against glasses and contacts aren't an option. I don't even use them for driving and i haven't had a problem.

There are plenty of styles of frames Im sure you'll find one that compliments your facial features and personality. I got glasses first when I was 13, and for years always wore minimalistic glasses (thin frames etc.) However a year ago I decided to try something radically different and went for some more thicker, wayfarer style frames that seemed to have been in style ever so recently and found it really accentuated my facial features nicely and made me look so much better.

Point being, glasses need not be a pain hindering your facial aesthetic, you're bound to find a good pair and that'll fit your personality too!

Embrace the weird-looking pairs! Run with it!

I wear reading glasses and I love them. They make me look smart.

I had the same experience in Year 6.
I needed glasses really badly, and because I didn't live near a proper glasses shop, I had to wear the most ugly glasses you've ever seen, and they didn't even fit my enormous head haha.
I looked horrible, really.

A few years later, I got new glasses after moving closer to Melbourne :D
I chose ones that I liked if I saw someone wearing them in the street, and then I happened to get complements from almost everyone after I started Year 9 :D

Things really could be worse. Keep your head up, most people look better with glasses, and I bet you do too.
