I'm not really doubting him, just pointing out that having completed the syllabus doesn't necessarily mean that's the end of the work to be done, especially when it comes to having a good grasp of all the concepts etc. etc.

And also that either continuing at a high pace means that he could end up burning out or maybe deciding to take things too easy during class time is something that he should take into consideration too.

I see what you mean, but if you are really motivated, you gotta keep going.
At the end of the day, what really separates people in VCE?
It is not intelligence. It is motivation and hard work.
Your typical high achiever is a kid of normal intelligence who is really motivated.

There is plenty of improvement left in English.
Your 'wordiness' overshadows your ideas.
Some of the 'big words' don't  convey your intended meaning. I got the impression you were playing lottery with a thesaurus.
In short, simplify the language, strengthen the content.
I'm not sure if it affects his piece as much to be honest but, I am very guilty of this a lot of the time. I just use unnecessary big words to make it sound like I'm smarter or what ever. Those complicated words have further meanings to the words they're linked to and I fail to realise that many times. Generally, using them in place of a "simpler" word is either unnecessary or ruins the flow of the sentence, which brings your marks down for coherence.

Having said that, I think sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But when it's done several times in a small area of text, the teacher may mark you down because of what I said above.

Hehe ... That's the problem with 'big words'.
When they work, they work beautifully.
But when they don't ...

But when they don't ... It wreaks of desperation. (well, mine did) haha.

It's amazing how much reading aloud (or under your breathe) can help, you can pick up the words that don't work with ease. My grades improved by a whole grade and half. I'll continue with it.

You just have to to make sure it flows..

I'm not sure if it's the right way to go about it, but I always question myself (during practices only), why a simpler word won't work and if I can't come up with a reason, I use the simpler word.

For instance, I don't think I could use the word 'convolution' with much confidence in an essay.
Part of the problem is that when I see the word 'convolution' I immediately think of Laplace Transforms and Fourier Transforms :)

I know a friend who actually enjoyed studying and had no problem studying 13 hours a day. If you are like that then i'd recommend you do the following:
Chemistry: Make notes of every topic and understand it inside out. When you do that i'd recommend working on checkpoints, Thushans famous ATARNOTES studyguide, and some neap smart study. If you realize that everything is easy in those books then move onto trial exams. Don't try do as many as you can (you have a lot of time for that during the year) but instead try look at the perspectives you get in the solutions and see how you can perfect your answers.

Biology: Make notes of the topics. Note that in biology you need to use various sources. I'd personally recommend listening to Douchy's biology podcast. And use BIOL notes unit 3 and unit 4. Watch some youtube if you feel you don't understand something.

Further: Syllabus is nice and easy just finish it then do as many trial exams as you can efficiently.

English: write lots of essays with different prompts.

Of course i'm assuming you want to study and enjoy doing it and you don't think you will burn out during the year if you get a headstart now.
Make sure that you don't become complacent anytime during the year especially before exams.

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY STUDYING!

listen this post is not to address the bad racial state of this forum. Instead it is to advise me on what i should do next as the title suggests.

I respect that you're trying to keep your topic on task, however when you criticise the forum, you can't expect people to ignore it. You'll find that when people like me post, we can generally derail the topic. :P hahaha

To address the apparent "bad racial state" of this forum. I don't know how long you've been in this forum to come to that conclusion, but regardless, I think it's very ill informed. For the most part, people here get along with others really really well. It's awesome seeing that! Especially at the meet that happened yesterday too! :)

I've been here for only 6 months so far and I've never even once, come across any form of racism towards me. Everyone talks in good nature, we make fun of each other every now and then, that's what we do when we're comfortable with others and know them well. Also, the word "curry" should not be viewed as racist at all. It's a term used by a lot, and I'm talking A LOT, of people use to describe people that are Indian or Lankan.... Or both :P It's used all the time by my friends, a few of whom are also curry. I don't know if you don't know of this or not.

What I'm trying to say is that people are not going to change for you. It's selfish and unrealistic to expect that. You're going to have to live with words that you don't like being said, because the majority of people may find it okay to use. I may find words offensive, but I don't bother telling people all the time, they aren't going to change just because of me. But if it's in good nature, like your friend saying "this faggot" or something like that (please don't tell me I'm the only one who gets called that :P), then it's totally fine with me. At worst, replace the word with something else. It's something you will have to to do. From now on, if you see the word curry in this context, you think, Indians and Lankans. :D

And look, you are entitled to your own opinion and I respect it but... I've given you what I think. ( I hope people, even you, agree with me though) and sorry if there are grammar errors.

Sorry to derail your topic once again, but I think criticism should always be addressed. As you did.

He wasn't the one derailing it but the derail will stop now -.-

Anyway, I find the whole "curry" thing dumb and trite but if people want to use it, just ignore them.
