I think it's very nice!! Great processor, great video card too. The i5 model has up to 5h battery life. I'd imagine the i7 would have slightly less?

idk why you would need i7

A great deal atm is this:
http://www.harveynorman.com.au/toshiba-satellite-u940-00s-ultrabook-laptop.html
i5, 14" screen (this is quite a big factor in the buy, 15.6" is too big, 13" too small), 4gb ram (upgradeable).
there's also a dedicated graphics card for your occasional gaming.
it's also ~1.8kg, which is great to carry around for uni
I think the deal lasts until tomorrow?

It is, especially for the price! :)

None of that matters to me. i7, i5...I don't really care. But one thing is for sure. I've already got a desktop replacement, so this laptop would be entirely for Uni, nothing else. I don't game at all so graphics plays no part in this. All it needs to be is light, easy to carry around and very, very, very quiet. My current one sounds so loud and needs another exterior fan to cool it. I will never buy a HP again and toshiba is at the bottom of the list as well. Asus seems like the best option to be honest. Never known toshiba to be great laptops unless it's the Qosmio.

Certainly is!

If this is the case, you should probably look a bit more, there's sure to be an i3 ultrabook with integrated graphics, as a tradeoff you will probably get better battery life as well which would probably be really useful for uni!

ASUS zenbook or the macbook air, depending on whether you prefer windows or OSX. They're both more portable, durable and have better battery life than anything else you're going to get (and unfortunately more expensive)

Cheers, I'll have a look around. Not going to go ahead and buy something straight away, bit of a pros and cons sort of person myself haha.

I've been looking at macbook airs and the zenbook definitely but price is certainly a factor. I want something for 800 or less. But a macbook air is something I'd absolutely consider at 1200 if it wasn't for the fact that Apple's releasing a new one in June. That's the worst thing about Apple products D:

ASUS have a cheapo ultrabook with the touchscreen for Win8 functionality for about that price. Or the transformer, that's pretty cool and works well according to a friend.

the transformer prime is not worth it from my experience.
like its a great build, but android made it shit with the crappy OS.
it lags so much, it turns off by itself, and the ability to write with a stylus or your fingers on the touchscreen has been rendered useless by the sensitivity haha :\ and theres other problems,
unfortunately the cons override the pros ;(

hence why i considered the zenbook, and keeping my Prime for shit-all things like watching movies, casual browsing, haha.. and portable access to files if need be.
it was good to use a textbook in year 12 though... , ;)

If you can tolerate MSY's customer service, then there's a really cheap asus zenbook prime you can buy there.

I've said it before, but I won't be shopping there any time soon. Non-existant customer service and gave me a dodgy product twice. Both used products.. Dogs..

The price difference from MSY to PCCG/Centrecom/Umart is not justified anymore. Not to mention I'd rather give my money and support another business who actually cares about their customers a little.

I'd say avoid.

having said that, if they have a product in stock that you can only find there. Make sure it hasn't been opened at all.

I have never had a bad experience with MSY. If you do your research beforehand and know what you want, MSY is still the most bullshit-free experience and represents decent savings over competitors. I've had faulty products and DOAs, but they dealt with it without any drama.

They are not a retail outlet, they are a wholesaler.

Also, I don't understand the fascination with having dedicated graphics in a laptop. Do you seriously want to play games on a laptop?

Unless you are a gamer, the Ivy Bridge integrated graphics (HD4000) will be more than sufficient for everything, including some gaming too!
