Negotiated Offer

Thank you!  :)
So what do you think of my situation:
want to get into science at Unimelb which is 2nd preference instead of Comm which is 1st. I'm going to apply for negotiated offer ASAP on the 17th.
1-What are my odds?
2-How long until I find out if I got accepted?
3-What if I get rejected?

1.  You'll more than likely get in.  UoM mostly cares about ATAR only.  A 98 should comfortably get you into Commerce.
2.  Not quite sure now.
3.  Apply for a mid-year transfer.

Didn't want to start a new thread so I guess I'm crashing this one :p
I have Comm/Law @ monash as my first preference, but I am seriously reconsidering everything and might want to apply for a negotiated offer for Biomed at UoM.

1. If I apply for a negotiated offer does my first round offer for Comm/Law "dissapear" ?
2. What are my chances of getting a negotiated offer with my ATAR? (think it's like borderline :/)

1.  If your negotiated offer gets approved, then Commerce/Law will lapse.
2.  If your ATAR is above the 2013 Clearly-In, then you will more than likely get in.  If not, then your negotiated offer will not be approved.

This is from Melbourne uni...thought it might be informative for some people

Thank you for contacting the University of Melbourne.

Negotiated offers are based entirely on academic merit.

Each bachelors degree has specific prerequisite subjects and ATAR requirements upon which selection is based.

All courses require applicants to have successfully completed the prerequisite subjects at VCE Year 12 level (or equivalent) to be considered for entry.

With the exception of those who qualify for the University’s Access Melbourne special entry scheme, applicants must achieve the minimum ATAR to be eligible for selection.

The clearly-in ATAR is the rank required to gain entry into the course. While it may vary from year to year depending on demand for the course and the calibre of students applying it serves as a guide for the required standard.

I have the same question... I have Arts/Commerce scholars program at Monash as my 1st preference and Professional Communication at RMIT as my 2nd. Arts/Commerce at Monash is my 3rd preference. If I get offered my 2nd preference - what are my chances that Monash will accept a negotiated offer for regular Arts/Commerce?

Also is it best to call straight away on the 17th?

whether you have a chance or not will depend on how many spots are left over, therefore you may have no chance what so ever. Yes i would call them straight (which is what i got told by vtac)

I don't even think you should bother calling as Melbourne states on their site that they accept negotiated offers for all their courses.

Thankyou for your help. :) I am so scared that I won't be offered a place at Monash... Where do you find the details for the selection officers? I've been browsing around Monash's website for a while and can't seem to find it!

Just got approved :)

Date Submitted    Course code            Course name/Institution                                  Status
18-01-2013     38271        Science - University Of Melbourne (The)/Parkville        Approved

You have been approved for a general tertiary negotiated offer. Please exit this screen and click on "Check Offer Status" at the next offer release for specific instructions on accepting the offer.

And about my initial offer, do I need to do anything or is it automatically forfeited? Should I still enrol in it on Monday just in case?

With your initial offer, just do nothing and it will lapse.

Hypothetically, what happens if I accept it?
