this source is not official but it's pretty legit by the sounds of it.


chespin > chespike > chespear, will be grass/dark

fennekin > flannec > furnox, will be fire/psychic

froakie > ribbub > frobanet, will be water/fighting

"Finchett" will evolve into Finches in pokemon X, Fincho in pokemon Y

Xerneas is Grass/??? and Yveltal is Dark/???

*Finchett is probably the gen 6 pidgey, based off a Finch bird

It's possible, the little double helix in the Japanese logo could suggest something biology-related

I think Furbob's on the money with everything so far.

I'll just add that the Japanese for Finchett, Finches and Fincho is read "Atorubii", "Atoruei" and "Atorunoo" respectively.
In Japanese, this bird is called an "atori".
