Alright thanks! Just a question, I'm also gonna do bio (with no VCE background knowledge) in my first year, so would you recommend doing stage one units of chem in my second year (so far I have no plans on continuing chem after that)?

The bio units assume no prior knowledge and are much easier than the first year chem units anyway. You'll be fine for that.

I recommend doing chem in first year because you'll want to do it alongside easier first year units so you can focus more on it. Also you'll be doing it alongside other first years so that makes it easier to socialise/make new friends etc.

Especially since these subjects have labs, where you will work with other people, even in groups of 3-4 on projects that take 1-2 weeks - very easy to make new friends
