SO EXCITED FOR UNI I WANT TO GO STATIONARY SHOPPING ALREADY!

what books should i get? excercise books? or loose leaf and folders?
do i need a separate book for each subject like school?

do you need to bring books to uni or do you just bring a smaller book and transfer notes later?
i cant imagine hauling heaps of books to uni like a school kid without a locker!
do i keep all textbooks at home cos theres no locker hahah

do i need a pencil case? haha

i have no idea what uni is like sorry about the silly questions
also i didnt know where to start this topic cos i dont know what uni i will get into yet!

For uni I just carry a stack of loose leaf paper in my super light bag and a couple of pens. I then take notes on them, go back and sort them out into folders. (Generally last for 3-4 weeks into the semester, then I get lazy and chuck everything into a pile) Some people prefer to have individual books for each units though so it's really up to your preference.

I use loose leaf for Commerce subjects where I would do my weekly tute questions and put the loose leaf in a plastic pocket and carry it to uni.

I use an A5-size folder with loose leaf for note-making in Japanese since we dont get tute questions (homework sheets rather) but its entirely up to you on how to study for grammar and vocabulary. I pretty much study Japanese by writing out notes to remember grammar, writing etc.

You rarely use or need your textbooks for class unless your tute says so. I suggest not buying any textbooks until after week 1 where you can get a feel for if you actually need it (generally Jaffys will ignore this and buy the textbooks anyway, I am guilty of this)
If you look around at uni you will realise that not many people carry huge bulky bags for textbooks.

It's up to you if you need a pencil case - I see some students do everything on their laptop/tablet-with-keyboard and others do nothing and do everything at home.

Everyone has their own way of doing things at uni so I can't give you a yes or no answer on what stationary you need

I have an exercise book for each of my subjects per semester. I never carry textbooks to uni (if it's desperate I'll use the digital version on my tablet).

Loose leaf and folders (biiig folders) worked well for me, and having some dividers too. When I had to memorize topics for a subject i'd just use a binder book.

I just bring my laptop, I just find it's quicker to take notes in. However for subjects like chemistry obviously you'd need to bring some paper, an exercise book would be best. Yes, I keep textbooks at home (I just borrow them from the library, you don't really need them: all you need is lecture notes really).

Bring a pencil case if you want, I just stick a bunch of random pens in my bag.

This is always what I wanted to do..I'm gonna get 6 in 1 notebooks..and I'm gonna finish my first year with that..and only pencil..(I have never used coloured pens pencils in my educational life except english classes) I'm not in favour of books except the exercise books...I don't know if they are available apart from actual text books...

So you use your tablet? That's good to know do many people use iPads at Uni? To take notes and stuff

I've never been the biggest fan of using a tablet to take notes (I still use pen and paper and I'm in an IT degree lmao).

For textbooks though they are great.

How does it work with textbooks if you choose to use a tablet instead?

I asked my step sister what she used when she was in uni for stationary because she graduated a couple of years back and she said it depended on the topic. She said for most just those Spirax books and pen and then her own work she did (like study I guess) was on her laptop  :)

I guess maybe just try something out and see how it goes until you work out what's best for you :)
