Can we just wait until the Academic Advice day and then choose our subjects? As attending that day will give us a better idea of what subjects are relevant to our majors etc etc.

I agree, don't understand the point of academic advice day if they suggest that we enrol in subjects before it...what do we need advice for then?

Mine says that the lapse date(I'm not very sure of what they mean by lapse date but I think it's the same as the last enrolment date) is 1st of Feb, that's for environments though.

Relax a bit. The uni system is going to be confusing at first but in time you'll get used to it.
Don't rush into taking subjects just because they look good, think about possible majors/ backup options and prerequisites in order to get to those. You still have a while to choose a major on the study plan (too early IMO), just focus on subjects you are wanting to enrol in (and make sure to check out the handbook). There's plenty of people on the forum that can help you out with specific study plan issues, or better yet going to the student centre will help
