soooo...
im confused as to wtf is happening with UoM haha,

on AAD, do we actually enroll in anything, or is it just information on the day that we are getting?
someone said that we get photos taken and stuff for ID cards and etc?
what day do we have to actually have to accept the offer..? - the day when we get an email or letter with the ID to register on the enrollment website?
what day do we register our subjects to create our timetable?
and what else is there for us to do ... haha.
so confused

1. I think we go get IDs taken...not sure what else to do on AAD though

2. We have until the 1st of Feb to accept our offer

3. I think we first enrol in subjects, then create a timetable. The timetable registration opens on 4th of Feb.

You don't need to go to AAD to enrol in subjects. Once you get your package you will be able to accept your offer and enrol in the subjects your self from home. You are pretty much just getting information and lectures on the formalities of subjects you are interested in.

Yes I believe you can get your ID cards on the day. Get ready for the long lines :)
"Collect your student card between Wed 23 January & Fri 1 March from Sidney Myer Asia Centre, Swanston St.
Open: 9:30am - 4:30pm, EXCEPT Wed 23 Jan, opens at 12noon."

Your enrolment package will have details on when you have to accept the offer by.

You can register your subjects from the 4th of February.

There isn't really much to be confused by. You guys just need to chillax a bit. I think you guys are just a bit overly excited at the moment. Understandable though haha

Wait, if subjects and timetable registration opens up on 4th Feb, does that mean I can choose my subjects as soon as I get my negotiated offer on the 6th or do Inhave to wait until the 25th of Feb for the second release of timetables? So confused... :-\

You choose your subjects first (after enrolment), and then on 4th Feb, timetabling opens up and you can select which classes from each subject you want to go to. Timetabling then remains open until census date (generally end of march). You can alter your timetable as much as you want.

On 25th Feb, more places/classes are opened up (added to the pool) for each subject so that latecomers or people who missed out on a particular class can get their preferred/ideal timetable.

Oh I get it now, thanks! So I'm guessing on the 25th only the more popular subjects get added new classes, things like calculus?

I don't think it's just the popular classes. I think this is across the board. They will release like half of the the places for a particular class on Feb4th. On Feb25th they will release the other half. This is just for people who have trouble with enrollment and are overseas. Fair game for all.

Hey sadboy,

I'm going into 1st year this year too, so can only tell you what I've picked up briefly from my older brothers and sisters. Someone on here will certainly add to or correct what I say, but I'll give you my thoughts now.

Basically to major in something, you need to make up a certain amount of "units" for this subject. I think across 3 years, if you play your cards right, you can major in 2 subjects. That said, you can also major in nothing if you don't have any consistency with your subjects.

"Breadths" are classes that aren't specific to your course, but are taken to increase the "breadth" of your studies and to make up your 300 units so you can get your degree. For instance, my brother was a slackass Science student and took Wine Tasting, Sports Coaching and African drumming as his breadths!

As far as "the whole system", take a look at the student handbook (google UniMelb Handbook) and it explains a lot :)

Do any of the older students here remember if there is a delay between creating your email/ portal account and actually being able to login to the portal ?
