It's pretty good, I did mind brain and behaviour 2. The content isn't hard, just a lot of rote learning. The staff are always happy to help, and the discussion board for the subject is really helpful.
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

No worries, yeah it shouldn't be too bad. I suppose working on the assignment is the hardest part, requires a fair bit of research if you want to do well.

I've heard that first year psychology isn't too hard to do well in, but some aspects are a bit...wanky, from what I've heard. For example, in MBB1, there is apparently an assignment which involves describing how looking at a sunset makes you feel. If you're a more right-brain, logical sort, this may not be the subject for you.

Psychology is kind of at the crossroads of Arts and Science, and has students from both degrees studying it. It's a fairly popular third science subject for those doing Chem and Bio.
The Finnish word pilkunnussija, which translates literally to “comma fucker,” is someone who risks his social wellbeing to annoyingly and persistently point out punctuation errors.

Completed VCE in 2010 - Now doing BSc at UoM

I did both first year psych units and in terms of difficulty, they're not overly difficult but you really have to be consistent with your work; first semester psych has more "science (bio & chem)" based concepts in it - because I didn't have that background I found I had to work a lot harder for it than semester 2 psych, which was more based around social psychology, something I love :) For both units though, you really need to keep up to date with lectures as doing well in the exam (which accounts for 60% of your grade) is essential to getting a good mark - also the assignments for this subject (the omg-how-do-i-talk-about-a-sunset essay in sem 1 and the more formal essay in semester 2) account for 40% of your grade so make sure you don't make any silly mistakes in them (I remember making a mistake with referencing and losing marks in my 2nd essay :( ). You'll get practice exam Q's before the exam so do them and discuss solutions with others as a lot of the exam Q's turn out to be very similar or sometimes even the same as the practice Q's :) :) As a breadth subject, it won't be a walk in the park (since it has an exam and 3 comprehensive lectures a week) but if you love psychology then it'll be totally worth it :)
