just down vote all his posts clip? I'm kidding :P

btw nliu do we (pi discounted you out of the 2013 graduating class even tho you got one more vote than me) get anything for winning?
Just bragging rights to non-AN member friends?  8)
yay... now I can sound more nerdy democratically =P

PS: How'd everyone go in Methods, easy? :D
If you guys contact Brenden, I think he'll give you a custom title.

I THINK I did okay. I don't want to read answers so I don't get hung up on things I can't change. Staying positive for my next exam.

I am so angry about this so I'm going to post it again here

There goes my 40.

And I'm a retard, anti diff (x-a)^2 and I'm fucking turn it into (x-a)^3 /3 instead of fucking expanding (x-a)^2 and antidiffing from there.

And I fucking fucked up the binomial expansion of (x-a)^3 as well.

Fuck.

The first bit isn't actually wrong. You don't need to expand.

Why did you need to expand?

Dude, you still have Exam 2 to go which is worth the DOUBLE of what Exam 1. Nail it, and your still in it for a 40.

Chin up! :)

You didn't even need to. a^3+b^3=(a+b)(a^2-ab+b^2)

(a-x)^3+(a+x)^3=(2a)*((a-x)^2-(a-x)(a+x)+(a+x)^2)

isn't that easier to expand? :P

And Damoz is right. Exam 1 counts for a third of your exam grade. Get 100% on exam 2 and you'll be fine.

Hey, I did the same method and it worked out fine... It wasn't your choice of method that got you unstuck, it was probably the (heavy) amount of algebra involved.

Urgh... I can't remember if I got the last question right. All the parts in the answer are really familiar, but I cannot recall if I put ln(2) is with the 12.5 or 7.5. >_< I guess I can take comfort in the fact that I've either gotten 39/40 or 40/40 for the exam.

Yup. All answers must be simplified. Some people didn't get that far, so you just gotta hope that at least one or both of them give you the mark. :)

That's still a great score! Nail Exam 2, and you find yourself with a big smile on December 16. :D
