I'd say staying up at 3am to do homework in general is stupid and pointless. I mean:

1. You should be more organised so that you don't have to resort to doing work at 3am in the morning.
2. You can't possibly be working to the best of your ability at 3am.
3. Working at 3am on any terms is just useless.

I've had a fairly full on start to Year 12 where I've already had two SACs and have another two on Monday. So far, I've been able to finish my homework most nights at 10:30pm (I usually start at 4pm) and that includes an hour off for dinner in the middle somewhere.

Going off on a bit of a tangent here - have any of you noticed that your time to revise for SACs has become far more limited? I remember literally being able to exhaust through a lot of practice content for Further last year, but this year I've had to learn to be content with revising just from a chapter review over the few days before the SAC, or a bit of StudyOn if I'm lucky enough to get a bit of extra time. Should I be concerned about this? Am I not doing enough? :/

Yeah same. It's like there's soo much work to do for each 3/4, but not enough time to do it all. I remember with only 2 3/4s last year, I did everything I possibly could to revise for them when it came to even the smallest assessment (like a test or something). But now it's like I have to be content with the bare necessities (like chap reviews) when it comes to preparation for assessments ?  :-\

Feel exactly the same! I feel as if I'm only doing the bare minimum. :|

Now everything counts ...unlike last year, I neglected eng Lang and accounting so much! It feels like there are not enough hours in a day. I leave the house at 6:50 and come back at 5pm most days . It's so hard doing all the homework and then revising in such a short period of time.
I think I have a similar regime as fleur! I try to set a time for how much I'll do for my subjects , but it always goes overboard.
2012: Psychology(46) Biology (44)
2013: Chem(41)---EngLang(44)--HealthnHuman(47)---Methods(41)--DEAKIN PSYCH(4.5)

Did the same and risked being stabbed at North Melbourne, South Kensington, Footscray, Laverton, Hoppers and Werribee.

Also, if your current regime isn't working, maybe tweak it?

I just don't want to start writing essays until I've gotten a good grasp of a lot of stories. I guess I should keep re reading my summaries.

I think the prompt I might be doing first is "Staying true to yourself is the greatest challenge" this is for identity context Growing up Asian in Australia.

I really wanted to do creative stories for context, but I feel that with creative, it can always be a mixed bag. I always wonder, what if the examiners can't see the link I can see... So in that sense, I feel that a more formal expression of writing like an expository or persuasive essay may be more suited for me. That way, I do have more piece of mind, and I think that if I have a deep understanding of the text(s), I can utilise that better in an essay style format over a creative story.

I wouldn't worry so much about studying the texts and summaries for context. You only need to be able to know enough to use the same themes and ideas, draw some parallels. Writing summaries is unlikely to help in that regard.

Creative pieces are a mixed bag. Generally, the best pieces of all that I've read tend to be creative. Having said that, the worst ones I've come across are also creative. For this reason, many choose the safer Expository/Creative Hybrid form, look into it :)

I don't remember ever having 'homework' in year 12.. It was all like, do as much as you like tomorrow we move on to the next topic in which case I would do a little and then stuff around for the rest of the night until 11pm and then go to bed :P
