Who here is enjoying probability? I know lots of people say that they hate it, but it's actually turning out to be one of my favourite topics out of all my Maths subjects. I really hated Year 11 probability and I wasn't too good at it, but I'm finding it much easier this year since it relates more to distributions. I enjoyed data analysis in Further last year heaps but probability is taking it a step further and making it a bit more complex but still really interesting. It's also quite different to the other Maths that we get to do, so it's a pleasant change of scenery for me. Am I alone here?
Here's my thoughts about probability. I basically love all of it. Going into it felt weird, because the work was so different, but after getting decent at it I'm enjoying it.
I must say though, markov chains, seem to be so isolated in Methods. I feel methods branches out with the binomial theorem and mixing them with normal distribution questions, etc. But the markov chains... I haven't seen many creative ways of asking these questions, it's always the same. It always seems blatantly obvious when you're asked a question involving them:
"Josh can do good or bad on a physics test. The result on his physics test is dependent on whether Josh did good or bad on his last physics test......... What is the probability he does well on a physics test in the long run?"Haha that's my personal opinion on probability, I enjoy doing binomial questions and continuous distributions a lot better =p
