Are any of you guys planning on going to those end of year tutorials/lectures?

I'm tempted to but I'm not sure if I should as it'll cost a total of over $300 for all of my subjects and I haven't heard any of my friends from school say anything...

Nope. I never find them useful. If you do things properly, you shouldn't even need them. To be honest, a lot of the people I know that go to those sorts of things do it because they feel like they're being productive and are getting an advantage, but then never really act on any of the information provided.

This is a question for the Methods students out there, so I apologise to those who don't do the subject, but it's probably a question that's more appropriate here. Mods, if you feel otherwise, feel free to make amendments.

Who here is enjoying probability? I know lots of people say that they hate it, but it's actually turning out to be one of my favourite topics out of all my Maths subjects. I really hated Year 11 probability and I wasn't too good at it, but I'm finding it much easier this year since it relates more to distributions. I enjoyed data analysis in Further last year heaps but probability is taking it a step further and making it a bit more complex but still really interesting. It's also quite different to the other Maths that we get to do, so it's a pleasant change of scenery for me. Am I alone here? :P

Methods is definitely not one of my favourite subjects, but I also kind of enjoy probability. I mean, there are some really confusing questions, but thus far it has been the area where I have performed the best and I guess that's because it's so different to the other areas of methods! It's like a nice little break from the other, more complex, areas and I think that's why it's so much better! Having said that, it still doesn't make me more motivated to work hard for methods.. bottom 2, here I come ;)

When I did methods last year, I actually hated Probability because it was so different to the other Maths that we do :P
That being said haha, come the exam, I found it one of the easiest questions to get full marks on :)

Here's my thoughts about probability. I basically love all of it. Going into it felt weird, because the work was so different, but after getting decent at it I'm enjoying it.

I must say though, markov chains, seem to be so isolated in Methods. I feel methods branches out with the binomial theorem and mixing them with normal distribution questions, etc. But the markov chains... I haven't seen many creative ways of asking these questions, it's always the same. It always seems blatantly obvious when you're asked a question involving them:
"Josh can do good or bad on a physics test. The result on his physics test is dependent on whether Josh did good or bad on his last physics test......... What is the probability he does well on a physics test in the long run?"

Haha that's my personal opinion on probability, I enjoy doing binomial questions and continuous distributions a lot better =p

Who here is enjoying probability?

Haha: I guess that due to the fact that it's just so different from all other parts of the course, lots of people seem to hate it.
Anyway, the chance I like it given my whole class hates it: 1.

I don't think everyone has the same hatred towards it. The mean varies from class to class

Lucky you. My dreaded English exam is the day after.
And then I have my second physics exam probably the week after. Oh well. No need to worry about that one.

Well perhaps, we should all keep our enjoyment of probability, discrete...

I think you should get yourself checked out because I've heard that using maths puns is a sine of insanity...
