Can sac marks be argued with teacher then changed?

for example: if in a short answer question, you have to define a word, and your answer is exactly how the prescribed textbook has defined the word, but whilst marking your sac the teacher just didnt think it sounded right, can you later show him the sac with the book definition and point out how it is exactly the same, and then he can be like " no worries sorry " then amend the score?

just curious LOL

Absolutely possible; but there is also a chance that your teacher may not pay the mark, as he/she disagrees with the definition of the book and expects students to derive their own definition - books are also fallible.

Yes, the result can be changed in such a circumstance. In my first Further SAC last year, I had to find the area of a triangle inside a pentagon and then find the area of the pentagon. I got the area of the triangle right, but accidentally multiplied this number by 8 instead of 5 and consequently got the answer wrong. This was a two mark question and I was deducted both marks, but I showed that I actually got the first part right and hence got my mark changed.

As a bit of a side note, I copped a lot of flak from my peers for making that mistake and people were drawing pentagons on everything as a result. :P I'm not sure whether I mistook my own handwriting or whether I got confused and was thinking of an octagon. xD

Well the answer to the question is essentially what is right.

A teacher should award marks if he's genuinely made a mistake marking your work. However, issues arise when certain students get 1/3 for showing XYZ and another student makes a similar mistake and gets 0/3...etc. It's probably impossible to completely eliminate those issues (which is why VCAA have two examiners - and a lot of the time, they disagree :P)

But if you're unsure, just let your teacher know and have him/her explain why he's awarded you the marks he did - better than nothing :P

Yeah, you definitely can. Last year in Bio I argued heaps of marks and my teacher added them back to my overall mark
