La Trobe or Melbourne?

Hi.

Here's my problem....

I want to go to La Trobe to do a bachelor of science but nearly everyone I know tells me to aim for Melbourne...
Why is this? What is the difference? Isn't a B.Sc a B.Sc no matter where it's gotten or am I wrong?
Also I'm not aiming for La Trobe because it's a lower score than Melbourne.. It's just that I really like La Trobe.

Thanks.

Well I haven't finished year 12 yet, but from what I hear Melbourne University's courses are generally better. Also, Melbourne University is rated as a better University so it'd look better in your portfolio when applying for a job.

It also comes down to travel time, if you feel as if either one is too far away, it may not be suitable.

I personally would aim for the Melbourne Science Degree for similar reasons stated above, but put La Trobe as your second preference maybe?

Don't really use this much anymore. More info below:

Nope, not by those rankings.

Although, rankings for postgrad research aren't too relevant for undergrad degrees IMO.

Question to you: what do you want to do with your B.Sci?

I have never read anything to suggest this.

Or, more accurately, "Lmfao I'm sure you couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel m8"

Nope, not by those rankings.

Might be relevant, if you have postgrad researchers/PhD candidates teaching tutes and stuff.

Well.. This is where I was getting to.. I'm thinking of going to America to do a postgrad because of all the amazing IT opportunities there..

Will a Melb uni degree help me more over a La Trobe degree?

If that's the case, go with Melb.

It's a better recognised institution internationally with existing links to some of the better unis overseas.

Sorry for double post.. but.

What if I were to:

2014-16 - La trobe science
Then go on to melbourne uni to do a post grad.. would that be recognized still?
