Rawr. This is not spam, nor am I a bot. I promise  :D

For those who were here long enough, I be the user Survivor, 2008 high school graduand who often spammed in the English forum raving on about text responses and the play 'A Man for All Seasons'. Haha - it's good to be back, after deactivating for so long :) I've now finished my BCom Honours at Melbourne Uni, and can't believe that it's been so long since visiting this forum I used to call home!

Well, i'm here today to talk a little bit about the Youth Group at my church which is launching this Friday. I'm a member of Melbourne Chinese Christian Church in Glen Iris (Eastern Suburb), and we have a gathering on Friday nights for those in year 7 and above -- though I reckon our largest proportion of members would be VCE and uni students. We cater for high school students, uni students, young workers and adults. Most weeks, we meet up at 7.30 to chill out, play games, study the Bible together and have supper -- great for those who simply want to destress from all the VCE and uni pressure, to make new friends, or to have any questions about God and Christianity answered. We are an Asian church (meaning, that most members attending would be Australian-born Chinese, like myself) but definitely welcome those who aren't Asian ;) Oh, and to make it more relevant to VCE, I once calculated that the young adults in our church had an average ATAR score of 93 or so. LOL, high achievers, if it's any incentive!

For me in VCE and in Uni, I remember having that balance by taking out some time on Friday nights from study really helped. The people were so encouraging and it put things into perspective - for example, that doing badly in that one English SAC or that accounting assignment wasn't the end of the world :)

If you'd like to find out more about us, or get involved, our website is: http://mccces.wordpress.com/ - that will probably provide you the info you need! It is quite accessible by public transport too - Tram 75 down Toorak road, or Burwood station on the Alamein train line.

We're having dinner together this Friday 15th at 7pm - yes, free food! It's gonna be a real relaxed night with icebreaker games and a short talk about what's happening this year. Hope to see some of you there!

The address of my church is 29 Summerhill Road, Glen Iris :)

The one on Toorak Road might be South Camberwell Gospel Hall - just down the road from ours! They're a great bunch. I visited their youth group while ours was on break :)

:D love Youth! So much so that I'm actually a first year Youth Leader this year!
What I really loved about attending Youth during VCE was that it was a fun time without me having to really go out of my way to organise a fun time, if you know what I mean? Plus the leaders there were generally older than me and provided really good insight into Uni life and de-stressing in telling their stories of how they got to uni. It's not the end all if you don't get into your course!

If you guys ever need any help, feel free to message me :D
I may be able to help out with wordpress, domains, etc and stuff :)

EDIT: Btw, if you're a non-Christian don't feel intimidated of attending, most Youths generally have a really positive vibe. The first time I went I was really terrified that they were going to do suprise baptisms and stuff LOL. But just try it out and see if it's for you :P

Hi all,

If you're wanting to make some friends over the school holidays, please feel free to come along to our Youth Group's Coffee Night! As the name suggests -- there will be coffee (and other hot drinks if you don't like your caffeine), desserts, many friendly faces, and some people playing live music and sharing how their Christian faith has impacted their lives. And the music is pretty good cause all Asians can play piano. We're mainly a mix of high schoolers / tertiary students / young professionals, so i'm sure you'll make a friend or two by the end of the night. It's a neat way to wrap up the holidays and do some detressing away from the practice exams!

Deets are below:
