The only BIG issue I have with this is that when these uni kids graduate, they might not find a job because they've resorted to 'prostitution'. Having that come up as a past job may make future employees to not consider them since they've resorted to these measures to pay off their uni fees :/

How would it come up to future employers? No one's going to write "Prostitute, 2006 - 2008" on their resume.

Don't they get financial assistance AusStudy/ABSTUDY/Youth Allowance payments in the ACT? I don't get any myself but I'm sure by the time you get around to paying your HECS off, you'd be what, 22-25 years old? So they'd automatically get it anyway even if they weren't 'eligible' for it before due to income thresholds. Hmmm tbh I find the whole issue pretty unsettling and even kind of wrong

Bit of a misleading title since these students are resorting to such measures to pay for food/rent rather than voluntary HECS payments. I have absolutely no idea why anyone would pay off a HECS loan early (best loan you will ever receive + its interest free + if you move out of the country you don't have to pay it).

I don't have a problem with these students. It's their choice to embrace their sexuality. Sex workers biggest bane is non sex workers thinking they can make negative calls about the industry. I'd imagine most of these people aren't degraded nor oppressed. It seems as if they are essentially independent contractors with lots of rights hence they make their own choices. Of course there are some rare cases where this is not the case, but it's rare.

Incidentally, there's a brothel near Monash Clayton. For my first semester maybe i just thought it was a shitty bar or something....with blacked out windows...painted purple...and a back door entrance.

If they're almost being forced to do it because there is literally no other way they can pay for food or something, then, that clearly is a problem. If they're doing it because they possibly want to, then, it's only really incidental that they happen to be students as well, so, its no big issue.
