Edit: on topic though, my magic no for sleep (that will allow normal functioning) is 7 (plus or minus) 2 hours =) I once went to uni on like 0 sleep though (damned assignment)....never again!  :'( :P

Woah that's a bit ridiculous. What do you even do in the time your awake, when you could be sleeping more :S

Ideally I will try to sync my body clock ( circadian rythmn) to the rise and set of the sun, so its more a seasonal thing with my sleep pattern. Supposedly we are more alert early in the morning and in my experience, that is true for the most part.

So on average I will probably aim for 9 hours of sleep (not taking into account the time it takes to fall asleep). I will also try to sleep for a time divisible by 90 minutes so that I may wake up at the beginning/end of a new sleep cycle and feeling fresh as opposed to being woken up by an alarm in the state of deep or NREM sleep.

 The general habit of depriving yourself of sleep, common amongst uni students, is one that I find repulsive. No one is doing themselves any favours by continually getting anything less than 6 hours a day. Even worse is getting no sleep at all, trying to study or finish an assignment. That for me is a form of self tortue. Had to resort to an all nighter once... Never again

And yes I am up very early in the morning but only because I'm now on break and want to enjoy sleeping in :P

If you go to bed at sunset tonight, and get up at sunrise, you'll be in bed for 12 hours and 18 minutes. Do you really do this?

Weekdays = 3-5 hours
Weekends = 10 hours

On holidays, it's either 12 hours or 0 hours.. and even when I sleep for 12 hours, I wake up more tired than if I was to sleep for 0 hours, lol.

You should get way more sleep than that .. considering you're only in year 10.
