It's a hella lot harder than methods and methods scales by a maximum of 6 ...

It's a hell of a lot *easier* than methods LOL

It's got not maths, and you don't even need to know the content to get 40+.

Scaling has nothing to do with the 'difficulty' and everything to do with the performance of the cohort.

Agreed, was just addressing the OP's comments on difficulty :)

See a post like this (to OP) for a concise way on how scaling works Re: How does scaling work?

Oh wow, that really helped. Thanks again man.

And I guess the fact that methods is a prerequisite for specialist may attribute to why it scales so much.

A better question is: Why does Biology only scale by 1?

:(
2012 ATAR: 99.20
2013-2015: Bachelor of Biomedicine (Microbiology/Immunology: Infections and Immunity) at The University of Melbourne
2016-2019: Doctor of Medicine (MD4) at The University of Melbourne

Because the cohort that does biology is only just above average.

at my previous school alot of the students with really poor grades (mostly boys) did physics, because they wanted to learn about black holes and explosions and shit, and i know alot of people (boys and girls) did bio because they thought it would help with pe and health, whereas chemistry was looked at as crazy formulas and beakers and acid and only the better students even attempted it, maybe theres just these connotations about the sciences that some seem easier or funner and others just appear more daunting

Can someone help me out? I'm currently doing Physics 1+2 and with minimal studies as a result of Biology and Further 3/4, I'm doing really well (got 97 for my first SAC and 90 for the second). I'd really really like to do Specialist Maths, but I don't know if I should do Physics or Specialist Maths 3+4 next year, without GMA. I'm doing reasonably well in Methods, with around 88%+ average again with minimal studying. I just need some guidance as to what I should look out for this year to help me determine which is a better option?

Thanks :)

I am currently doing Physics Units 3&4; to be honest it can be interesting but it can be incredibly dry at times as well. Motion is similar to Unit 2 motion, with a few extras such as: Gravity, circular motion, projectile motion, and satellites. These extra aspects, are interesting; they allow you to learn about some real life situations including geosynchronous orbits of satellites. We have begun Electricity and it is somewhat interesting. Physics is one of those subjects I think, in which doing background reading in topics can allow you to gain some interest. For an example, if you find it dry at the moment maybe search up some motion related topics. Physics can be interesting, but it is up to you to make it interesting.

Now I did GMA for a little while last year, and I found it to be challenging. However, the challenge was worth it because proofs etc., are very interesting.

At start of this year while going over physics 3&4 i definitely thought it was going to be my bottom 6th. however after doing some practice with heaps of notes, you can see where it stands from my banner.

Never in a million times would i have thought to love physics as my best subject. so interesting and so exhilarating.

To ans the question : many people who do subject are really good and thus probably why it doesn't scale up so much. i know most people in my cohort are looking at above 90% for our first SAC and i got to a "SHIT" school.
