How hard is it to get a 50 in Literature?

I'm currently doing Lit at the moment. It's alright for me. Last year my scores averaged from a B+ 85 to a 95 A+. Right now, I've scored 17/20 for my first SAC and I think everyone seems to have received that score with some exceptions to those who were new in my class.

I'm just wondering what scores would I need to achieve to get a 50 or close to a 50 (at least 47)?

I think the cohort is average and I'm not sure about my rank.

Sac's and exam both need to be A+ and sac marks are irrelevant but rank is so much more important

A+ as in 95% and over? Also, what if I was between 2-5 in ranking?

I think it's 90% for A+ but it depends if it has changed this year. It would be very hard due to the fact that the top 5 ranks has to be relativity strong meaning SAC marks have to be close to full marks and also almost full marking the exam. From what I believe, the rank 2-3 have a better chance of scoring a 50 rather than rank 3-5 due to the fact it is the second best SS, third best SS etc.

Oh okay. Thanks for explaining.

Wait, I have another question. So if I got 85% and the rest of my SACs average to say low 90s, and I'm in an average cohort, middle in ranking, what SS would this give me? Also is it still full marks needed for the exam to satisfy a 45+ SS?

Depends on the strength of your cohort (just saying average is very vague) - no one can tell you what you'll get. If you got low 90's average in an average cohort, I assume this would be ranked somewhere near the top? Then again, depends on how hard your school marks. I'm not familiar with Lit but you would need pretty close to full marks for a 45+ SS I would assume..

If you're aiming to full-mark the exam then you'd probably need to be the best in your cohort (fullmarking a vcaa exam is very very difficult).

Well you can certainly hit SS40+ however it depends how high your 40 would be if the people above you do poorly in the exam can result you getting a study score less than 40. But if a few full mark it and a few come close to full marks then you may in for a chance of SS of 45+. In most circumstances full marks will guarantee a 45+ but sometimes depending on the circumstance losing a few marks can still net a 45+. I hope this has answered your question

Well you can certainly hit SS40+ but in my personal opinion 37-41

You can't estimate a study score based on SAC marks alone. For one we don't know the exam score, and secondly we don't know how hard her school marks

I removed it considering you have raised a valid point

Well, I don't really know how to describe  it but I think most of the marks we get is 80% and above, some obviously better than others, but only probably one to three people. My teacher is a VCAA assessor and I think she's a fair marker. I know that I deserve what I get.

Alright, I'll see if I can aim for full marks. It's very difficult, I know but it isn't impossible.

So everything really comes down to the strength of the cohort? So above ranked people if they do poorly will affect my study score being less than 40? But these above ranked people score near full marks or full marks in the exam, I could have the chance to achieve an SS of 45+?
I think I get it, but how do you judge your cohort's strength. I really don't think we're the greatest writers. There are one or two people who write well but other than that, everyone seems to be getting mid 80s.

Oh, if I were to ask my rank, how should I phrase it? My teacher is a morning person and she's almost always sleepy during our class time. Another question, how is ranking worked out? Is it just about the highest score for SACs, average or what?

I'm sorry for bombarding you with questions but I'm an unsure kitten.

Statistical moderation is based on the performance of your cohort. If your cohort does well your SACs get scaled up. If you had the highest score over the year you'd naturally have the highest average (rank is based on marks out of 200 <-- not sure if it's 200 for lit though). I asked for my rank but my teacher never told me. I guess after a few SACs you should have a fair idea of where you sit in terms of your ranking (compare your marks with the best writers).
