Hey guys,
I was just wondering whether anyone has completed their second SAC on NHPAs and nutrients? If so, what did it entail? How much do we have to know? Should we know a program in detail for all NHPAs, or just selected? Do we need to know everything about every nutrient? Thanks :)

You basically need to know one program for each NHPA (and one for each priority cancer in the Cancer Control NHPA) - You need to be able to name the program correctly and explain how (what it does) to improve health outcomes for that NHPA - i.e. how will the steps of that program improve health status for the impact that NHPA has on the population?

For nutrients, you need to know every nutrient listed in the study design - you need to be able to explain each nutrient's impact on health in terms of how it benefits health; and also the health impacts from getting too little (or having deficiency) of particular nutrients. It is best to explain the nutrients impact on health by linking it to a disease or health condition :) E.g. In the case of Vit D: Vitamin D is required to assist in absorption of calcium by the body to facilitate bone mineralisation. Deficient levels of vitamin D can cause loss of bone density and weakened bone structure, contributing to conditions like Rickets or Osteomalacia.
