Hey,
I managed to come across this section 1 q on one of the medentry exams, its to do with a survey conducted from 2005-2006 involving a sudden decrease in the number of GPs in Australia.
One question asked, "what cannot be inferred", with one option being that many of the doctors surveyed would by now be retired (74% of doctors surveyed were 45+ years old.)
Would this be correct? It does say in the text that Australia could face a doctor shortage within five years as a silver tsunami of GPs head towards retirement, but technically, I could be reading that article in 2007 and not 2013. According to medentry, this can be inferred from the passage.

For the real UMAT with qs like these, would it be safe to assume that I'm in the year 2013? I know this question may seem a bit whack, but I just want to make sure given this q from medentry.
Thanks

How much progress has everyone made on UMAT preparation? I've finished most of the medentry drills and about half of the trial exams so far.

Ditto!
Btw, do you have happen to know why the 'Solutions: ACER Official Practice Exams' are included in Medentry's LMS?
My exam percentiles, for each section, have been fluctuating like crazy, don't know what to expect anymore :|

Hey,
This may not be that relevant to this thread, but does anyone know of anybody studying med at JCU?
Would anyone be able to shed some light on the course and comparison to others in the country?
Thanks :)

Lol, is there anything specific that they like?
Also, would it be possible to move back to melbourne after having completed the degree over there? Like for internship etc.

Edit: was just curious as ive heard that theres this focus on rural and/or tropical medicine up there

Unfortunately, it's not likely.

Quote
...The practical effect of this system is that a Victorian resident who moved to Queensland to do their medical training will not be able to get a job in Victoria until the Melbourne, Monash and Deakin university students have been allocated jobs. They will have first priority when being selected in Queensland, but will fall to the bottom of the pile in every other state, below all the other candidates from Australian and New Zealand...
...Thirdly, the inconsistencies between the different priority systems may soon lead to major tensions between states. Victoria has recently amended its priority system to preference international graduates of Victorian medical schools over and above interstate medical students. This sends a clear message to international students that going to a Victorian medical school is more likely to result in getting an internship position than elsewhere, potentially increasing university enrolments and revenue. However, Victorians who have travelled interstate to attend medical school are even more disadvantaged under this system - they are now third priority in the ranking system - and consequently have even less chance to return home to work...

EDIT: Added to the quote.
