I know at the The University of Melbourne you can get guaranteed spots in postgraduate degrees if you meet certain criteria. Does this exist at other universities too?
2017-2020: Doctor of Medicine - The University of Melbourne
2014-2016: Bachelor of Biomedicine - The University of Melbourne

I do believe there are guaranteed spots for Honours degrees at Monash, provided you keep up the average.
2010: History Revolutions 35
2011: English 3/4, Accounting 3/4, Economics 3/4, Mathematical Methods 3/4, International Studies 3/4.

I thought that was only for specialised degrees like science scholars and all that?

Whilst it isn't guaranteed, if you do get a very high mark, you're got a very good shot at getting into anything post-grad anyway. As far as i know with the guarantees, they're conditional themselves on you not falling below a certain mark anyway, so, they're not even total guarantees.
