Hi guys,

Do you have any tips on time management for this? So far, I've had two SACS, well below what I could've achieved because I haven't been able to finish in time. Got any tips for this one?

Cheers

I've been doing the larger questions first, and have been wording them in my head in reading time... do you have reading time? If so use it wisely.

Yes, not wasting that reading time is definitely an important thing. Also, how I go about doing the questions is I leave the simplest ones out till the end so even if I have to rush like hell and end up stuffing up that question, losing 1 mark would be better than half of a six marker should I run out of time.

For the first two SACS, during my reading time I've just been trying to make some sense out of the case study as they've been 1+ pages, taking me the entire 5 minutes reading time I've been given. I've had 20 and 25 mark SACS, and lost marks on those last few smaller questions (2 mark questions) due to not having time to write anything of expected standard.

I had my first Business sac a short time ago and my second sac is approaching shortly (this week). I think my recommendation is, use reading time very effectively and answer the questions you find the easiest out of the paper first. Secondly I think be concise with your wording and just straight bang to the point, e.g. for a definition question just describe what the term means and a short example accompanying your response. Also read up the assessors report as you can see high-scoring responses provide a brief definition even if it is not required (it's up to you if you have the time to do this and please to do so). Additionally, when providing an example that accompanies your response, make sure it's relevant to the case study, e.g. 'Bill's presents an autocratic style of management..blah blah...and this is exemplified through blah blah blah'. Don't write blah blah on the sac though haha! :P

What helped me most was practice questions before the SAC. My teacher gave us hints, so I created questions that I thought would be similar to SAC questions. When I sat the SAC, I was already prepared for these types of questions. You also need to know the content well, really well.

1. Know content well enough
2. Preperation

Lala, I'm currently at school but I'm looking over the practice SACs given, and the previous ones were so similar to the actual thing and for the part B of the second SAC, despite the fact I don't know what any of it means, they are both similar. Damn it's easy

I'm going to learn it properly then under exam conditions, practice it.

It'd seem like a very simple/silly recommendation, but a good tip for subjects with extended answers or just a lot of writing in general, practice a lot with a heavy pen. I've been adding weights (coins) to my pens, and when a SAC comes, I take the weights and out and it's so much easier to write! Hands don't get cramped or tired. :)
