I'm curious because the GAT is in two months. Can it somehow, in any way have an effect on my ATAR score?

If you somehow skip your exams, they use your GAT results to derive a study score for your subjects in conjunction with other factors.

Thanks. If I do sit my exams though, can it in any way boost my score, or is it solely used for derived scores?

It plays some role in moderating SACs, but my understanding is that it is your cohort's performance on the GAT that does this.

Oo okay. So if I was to perform poorly on the GAT, theres a chance it could potentially bring down my SAC marks, and if I was to score well it would potentially increase my SAC marks? thanks

possibly. But really the GAT wouldn't have an extreme effect on your marks. Just do the best you can and you will be fine.

They usually use the GAT results from the entire cohort. So they can correlate with other school's SAC Marks. To see if their A+'s are similar to the A+'s at every other school. If they school is too lenient then their SAC marks would scale down

They do use it for individual study score predictions. Every year they predict study scores for each student and subsequently predict the average of the school. My vice-principal showed me their statistics in his office one day, and due to our socio-economic area, school, and GAT scores, Emily and I were both supposed to get a 40 or so in English and less if everything else. Lol.
