Starting to do some practice Unit 3 chem exams for an exam-style SAC we have in a couple of weeks. Which companies tend to make the best ones - similar to VCAA, reasonable difficulty etc...

NEAP and STAV are probably the most realistic. For exams a bit harder ATARNotes and KBT are good. Insight is generally a bit easier.

Don't waste your time on TSFX and TSSM.

Out of interest, why not?

It's just that I've heard the TSFX notes are pretty good, so I assumed the exams would be good too?

TSFX exams, form experience, tend to test things on the fringe of the course and don't focus on realistic questions. The questions aren't hard, just not really course material a lot of them time.

Their notes are good though (Y)

Is it me or are neap exams difficult especially the 2011 one for unit 3. Or is it just me?

I just did the recent TSSM 2013 one in class, surprisingly it was quite decent, a lot of the questions tested and separated the average from the good students in that it tested some finer points, and some of the multiple choice were on the same calibre as some previous VCAA ones that are thrown in the checkpoints book  :D

In terms of difficulty (for when I was in Year 12):

TSSM/Kilbaha < Insight < VCAA < NEAP/STAV < KBT

I haven't ever done an ATARNotes exam but from what I've heard it should be up there with NEAP or KBT
