lool thankyou. and haha yep that unicorn has been pimped up so well..i think it might be ready to find some unicorn-ettes..or watever. yeah ahh i'll have to do some hardcore detailed study these hols if im going to do well at all. i was wondering, is it really good to memorise eeeeeverything? wouldnt it leave some space to screw up if u are prone to mind blanks (ala me)? lol iuno, maybe its just me trying to find an excuse to be lazy..

minerva's not going to morph into a unicorn, so enlighten me when you find another girl's school with 'unicorn-ettes' as you so aptly put it. haha. you should memorise your entire script - if you're prone to mind blanks, then just skip to whatever point you were going to make after the point you'd forgotten. it's really hard to find a way around forgetting, i guess. but if you stop talking, i'm pretty sure the examiners will ask you something else (hopefully jolting your memory) - they have to assess you somehow, so they'll probably just move on. but to prevent that from happening, start memorising now to minimise the possibility! i'm really freaked out about that happening to me too.

btw smrandmazn - this sounds really stupid, but what do you do once you've signed up for the anki site? i'm rather lost

lol by sign up do you mean downloading the application? After you dl the software you can either add your own cards (if you happen to have hours to spare =[) or you can use one of the premade decks (e.g I'm using the bundled JLPT2 deck, as well as a downloaded JLPT2 deck). I can also send you the deck I made from Wakatta vocab pages from chapter 7 - 12 if you end up using it =]

yesh thx so much =]

For Anki, an account is only needed if you want to sync it online. Otherwise you just need the application from http://ichi2.net/anki/download/index.html Then you can add "cards" to "decks". Admittedly Anki isn't the easiest program to use, but once you get used to it it doesn't really become a problem

EDIT: I realise that not have been enough info, Anki is a bit daunting at first
Um I'll just send an Anki deck. Just open that using Anki and everything should be fine =]

lool yeah my unicorns been having some problems hooking up with the opposite sex...despite how pimp he is, so yeah he's broadened his horizens and is accepting all equine species.  but yeah macrob might as well change their emblem with something with "unicornettes"..cos seriously wth is up with a roman warrior dude representing an all "girls'" school? anyways, yeah i've been doing some more research for koureika and have decided that i'll try fit in some stuff about how women are being tools and not having kids early enough, so there are less kids..but still my primary focus is economy. i'll probs memorise main points, but leave the speaking details to come naturally...sorta like debate-prep.

Haha well we're given a topic and have to write as much as we can in 30-35 mins.

Ahhh ok is tutor of any help? Was thinking of getting one just for speaking (had a look at Macrob's LOTE coordinator coincidently, Sawaki Shungo)

how do you find doing the writing task in 30-35 mins? i find that it's not too bad when writing about school/sport, but when you've got application letters or topics about the changing attitudes towards women in japanese society... lol
btw where'd you find the ad about sawaki-sensei? i'm not sure how much he charges, but it'd probably be a fair bit, since he has an awesome reputation! i was talking to him this morning about his tutoring, and he said looking for a tutor around now is a tad late... but still, i think that if you just want someone to practice kaiwa with, you could probably find an ex-student for a cheaper rate. there's someone who posted an ad in the tutoring section earlier this year for japanese, if i recall correctly.

Yeah lol well my one was on a fairly easy subject, club activities. Yeah, he is quite expensive, like $80/hr :O My Japanese teacher sent an email to nihogo victoria or something and he was one of the ones who replied back.

SmRandmAzn, are you able to send me those flashcards you have. I want to try my luck at this anki program. Just a side question, do you and moshi seriously know the WHOLE VCE vocab list??

pfft SmRandmAzn might, but i certainly don't! my class has nearly learnt every list in the book so far, but that doesn't mean that i've actually remembered every word... lol. some of my classmates basically have though - that's dedication for you.

lol I don't know EVERY word on the VCAA list. I'm currently studying from JLPT 2 lists, which happens to overlap with the vast majority of the VCE list, as well as words not on the list. I'll send the flashcards when I can =]
