Hi all! :) new to this blog and I have no idea what i'm doing...

anyway, i'd love for you to share with me your health or pe experiences and tips.

I'm unsure about which one i'd like to do, and IF i do end up taking one of them i will have to skip unit 1 and 2.

What do you think about that? Would you recommend it?

Mod Edit: Removed All caps title.

Just a note to not make titles in all caps:
Posting rules
Avoid ALL-CAPS in thread titles and posts, unless using a proper acronym (e.g. "VCE", "ATAR").

Well, i'm currently doing 3/4 Health without doing 1/2 and I am ranked somewhere in the top 10 :)

It's a relatively straightforward subject but it's very easy to slack off and get distracted by your other subjects ><''

I highly recommend it... it's interesting!

I'm thinking of doing health 3/4 next year. Is there a lot of maths or problem solving in the exam? Thanks

There is absolutely no maths involved.

Whilst most answers are pretty straightforward, there are of course a few that really make you think, so if that constitutes as problem solving, then I guess so! haha.

I highly recommend Health as a 3/4 subject for when you're in year 11. That way, you are able to really focus on health, maximize your study score and minimize the scaling factor :)

HHD is the best subject ever, it's just so good I can't even describe how good it is.

hey everyone! thanks for replying.

I'm thinking of doing PE 3/4 because i'm more interested in the sporty/biology/sciencey aspect.

What do you learn about in Health? I heard that it talks more about the health of other countries, the human development index and all the stuff I touched on a bit in year 9 Geography.

Health and HD is just a lovely subject! If you put in the effort and practice answering Qs you can do really well! There is a lot of memorisation and understanding of content (some of which, such as unit 4 concepts, can be dry) but it's not impossible! :) You just need to make sure you don't slack off :) Even putting a bit of effort into this subject and practicing how to answer Qs can really enable you to do well :) It's an amazing subject if you find health/disease/nutrition related stuff and health impacts on the developing word interesting :)

You learn about that stuff in Unit 4 when you look at Global Health and Sustainable Human Development :) You also learn about Aid and how Australia helps developing countries in the later parts of unit 4. In Unit 3, you learn more about Australia's Health as a whole as well as the diseases/conditions affecting Australians. You also learn about the role of nutrition and different nutrients in achieving health and how healthy eating is promoted in Australia :)

and yepp doing HHD in year 11 is great! But that doesn't mean you can't (or that it's impossible) to do it in year 12 :) I had to do Methods 3/4 in yr 11 (wasn't that the best choice of my life looool) and so I had to do HHD in year 12 but I didn't find it THAT bad :) So if you don't mind memorising content and you like what HHD is about, then definitely go ahead and take it (regardless of whether you take 3&4 up in yr 11 or yr 12) :)

edit: I also highly agree with JamiStorm in relation to maximising your study score to minimise scaling down of the subject. HHD does get scaled down (unless you get a 50) but with higher scores there's very low scaling down (maybe just 1 or 2). Scores closer to 50 get very lowly scaled (like less than 1) hahaha so the main aim is to try your best to get the highest score possible (which isn't impossible tbh! You just need to give it the attention and hard work it deserves i.e. don't think "HHD is an easy subject" :P Treat it like every other subject :D )
