What is the difference between stratified sampling and random stratified sampling? They both seem to be exactly the same thing?? The Grivas textbook has it under two headings, but they seem to be exactly the same thing...

Not an expert on this but stratified sampling is when you have groups called strata and you pick out samples from each as they occur in the population to make sure they represent the population in the same ratio.

Random stratified sampling is the same except that the way you pick out your samples is random giving each sample an equal chance of being selected.

Hope this helps.
