Picking up 3/4 Chemistry without taking 1/2?

So I've recently been re-evaluating my direction. And i think that picking up chemistry would be a good idea, but I'm already in year 11... I'm already taking three 3/4's this year, but they are all english/humanities based.

Is it doable to pick it up in year 12, especially seeing as I will be taking a maximum of 4 classes, probably 3?

Is it just me or does one have to compete units 1/2 to be eligible to do 3/4 chem for vce?

Maybe check with your school careers counselor to see if it is possible?

It's probably possible to do, although I wouldn't recommend it. About 75% of the 1/2 course is utilised and built upon in 3/4. Not having the foundations makes it quite difficult to, for example; just pick up at the start of 3/4 and understand already what a mole is and how to calculate it

It would be extremely difficult to do so. so much of unit 3 and 4 is based on prior knowledge from unit 1 and 2. And to successfully complete it you must have a pretty firm grasp from unit 1 and 2. Even students who do units 3 and 4 after passing units 1 and 2 stills struggle.
Picking it straight up from units 3 and 4 is a huge risk, strain and disadvantage. However remember it is your choice, only you know your pathway and capabilities. Your first point of call is a chemistry teacher or even your coordinator(s).

i reckon you might be okay if you go over unit 1 and 2 with a tutor during the holidays.  ;)

from what ive done of 3/4 chem with tutoring and doing 1/2 chem now

you can do it, and if you work really hard its probably possible to do well (if you go over important unit 1 & 2 concepts), but i dont know if youll really UNDERSTAND why stuff happens, youll just be able to do it, like without the lattice and basic electron knowledge from unit 1, youll know stuff and be able to do it but wont know why and if theres questions like that it might throw you off and if you go on to chemistry at uni you might maybe possibly not be as well off?

id say - do methods or further, and if you want to do chem do it in uni

but hey im a year 11. ive only done 3/4 chem with tutoring and starting unit 2 now at school so dont take my advice as gospel
