Just got my second Intercultural Communication assignment back. Little bit disappointed how even when my tutor said that it was really good and made hardly any negative comments throughout the paper, she gave me only one more mark more than my previous assignment, which had a lot more constructive criticism.

Oh well. El2012, I am echoing your feels from last year.

My neurophysiology mark went up!! 95 from 93, small increase but it makes all the difference for me :) happy to have reached my goal for this subject!
Well done! Did they email you about the mark change or did you check the study plan?

Yep! Makes no sense.
Had the exam not have been multiple choice, I probably would have received a mark anywhere between an H3 and H2B.
Made me think twice about taking an arts breadth again.
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

That's just amazing. My mark went up too, why does this happen? Was it incorrect before, or is it some sort of scaling?

Speaking from my own experiences as a former BA student, Arts breadths are not the best choice if you're looking for a WAM boost.

In most Arts subjects, you need to write at or above the level expected of a PhD student if you want any hope of scoring 100. That means your essays must demonstrate independent and creative thought, rather than simply agree with the literature. Even if you show some capacity for creative thinking, that should be enough to get you to 85-90 - assuming that your clarity of expression and referencing are flawless, that is.

Very frustrating but that is how it is at nearly all universities.

Doesn't that mean we're somewhat disadvantaged when it comes to achieving the grades necessary for post-grad study, etc?
