Make thread deletion a privilege.

I think thread deletion and/or post modification should be made a privilege.

I'm sure everyone has seen a few (recent) occurrences that new members/lurkers have come here to ask a SAC or other types of questions, only to delete it after they obtain what they want. People put in some effort to help others out, knowing that it can potentially help more than the one person asking the question.
This is not a considerate act and I'm sure it's not what VN is about.

Hence, I'm suggesting that thread deletion and/or post modification should be made a privilege - maybe 100 posts?
I don't think the post requirement is too much as it doesn't restrict them from posting anything. If they do accidentally post sensitive information, they could always PM a moderator for it to be removed. (Or extend the "report to moderator" function to delete a thread along with a comment on why the thread should be deleted)

(I'm sure this can be done because I've seen it on other forums where members have "levels" for certain privileges. However, I'm unsure of the plugin name)

Above the quick reply box, there's a bar with
REMOVE TOPIC || LOCK TOPIC || DELETE SELECTED

It has taken 5 months for me to get over 100 posts, maybe a bit lower or not at all. Deleting a thread is not something a user should have access to, maybe locking but not deleting that's what a thread report button is for (I can't see one, do we even have one?)

Only the creator of a particular thread is able to lock it, aside from Mods.

You could always "report to moderator". It's at the bottom right hand corner of a post. However, I haven't actually reported anything so I'm not sure if it actually works :P

I don't think post modification should be a privilege, because otherwise everyone will just double post

Double posting already occurs. I think a little nuisance like double posting is a good trade off for not letting people delete their questions and consequently, people's answers, because of their selfish ways.

I agree with dekoyl, I think a "privilege" for thread deletion is definitely a good idea.

So if we make a mistake while posting, we make another post and not be able to delete the wrong one?
