Matrix problem on CAS
« on: June 30, 2013, 03:51:35 pm »

Hi.

I am using Casio Classpad 300. I am trying to find the inverse of
[2p -1
 3     p]

but when I type in
[2p -1
3     p] ^-1 into the calculator, it says Incorrect Argument. If I replace p with x, it shows the answer.

Is this normal? Maybe p means something else? :S

Thanks

you've probably defined p to be something. if you type p(x) does an equation or something pop up?
just delete all your variables

probably because the the calculator doesnt realise that p is a variable

if u want p in ur answer, instead of selecting p from abc,

go to keyboard, then mth, then VAR which is located  in the bottom right.

then select p

note: i use classpad 330, not sure if there are differences or not

Sorry I am using Casio Classpad 300.

I typed in p(x) and x^3 + ax^2 -x +b popped up.

I clicked clear all variables, but it still won't go away!!!

What do I do?

Have you tried to delete the variable as demonstrated here?

Here's the source in case you're interested.

Hey there, I thought resetting your calculator only had the same result as removing the batteries and putting them back in?
I.e. it only turns off and back on? No memory is lost? (You only have to recalibrate the calculator along the other settings such as screen brightness and auto power off time.)

Or do you actually lose memory when you reset it?

I have a feeling that you wouldn't lose it but I'm not 100% sure. You could always back the eActivities onto your computer. (If I remember, there's a function on the calculator which allows you to transfer it over when connected.)

no, you're right, resetting does the same thing as taking out batteries.

and yeah, my calculator(s) don't clear defined functions either, i have to go through the menu. :\ don't know why, it's quite annoying. it does clear the variables that you set up as "3=>b" though. :I WHY IS THE CLASSPAD SO INEFFICIENT. Q____Q
