^ true. And I guess you'd have to spend half a day waiting in anticipation, which isn't ideal.

Am NOT looking forward to waiting around for 40-50min before I get to sit down. Will probably appear constipated to the people around me in the line.

No one knows how scoring system works so my advice is to aim for getting every question correct :)

What's the deal with ID?

The email from ACER says:

Quote
IMPORTANT: Photo-bearing identification document:
On the test day you will be required to show one form of photo-bearing identification.
Your identification must include:
      1.  your name;
      2.  your date of birth;
      3.  a recent photograph, embedded in the card (i.e. not laminated); AND
      4.  your signature.
Only these documents are acceptable:
•   Current passport - issued within 2 years (July 2011 or more recently)
•   Current driver’s licence or learner’s permit (photo-bearing)

Learner's permits don't have a signature on them, and my passport (which does) is more than two years old.

Has anyone had a problem in the past with a learner's permit? Seems odd that they'd list it as one of the possible forms if it doesn't have a signature.

Learner's permit is fine and it does have a signature (at the bottom of the card)

OMG. What the hell, someone tell the truth here!! ACER says we're not allowed mobile phones with us into the examination room, and there's no place for them, yet some people say you're allowed in with it, to turn it off an leave it under your chair.. WHAT DO I DO!? I'm so confused  ???

I'd say be on the safe side, listen to ACER and don't bring your mobile phone in.
Plus on the website it says that there are limited facilities for storage of personal belongings at the centre if need be.

For the identification required on the test day, I'm just thinking of taking my school ID card. Is this okay?

On my school ID card I have:

* school logo
* school name
* my full name
* year level
* house
* date of birth
* student login number
* barcode (for library access)
* photo taken of me in 2013

Nope that's not ok :/ If you don't have a license or a passport I think there is an option for some doc your school can provide to prove your identification, look it up on the ACER website (I would but I'm on mobile). From memory the doc has your info, school header, school stamp etc.

Yeah I was doubting the validity of my school ID card anyway, but I just wanted to check.

& yeah I've read about the school letter ID thing. We were planning to get it done on Monday actually. I would have done it earlier, but some sort of mishap occurred with my 'passport-plan' at the last minute.

A few more questions:

* are parents allowed to accompany their children into the grounds (i.e. Caulfield Racecourse), or are they prevented from coming in after the ID process at the gate?

* are we allowed to take medication into the room (e.g. panadol)? Also, does this medication have to be inside a clear plastic pocket, or can it be inside the prescription box?

Thanks

They're allowed to accompany you to the grounds, but they can't go into the testing venue, so no they won't let them past the ID processing. They can stick around the grounds for as long as they want...heck when I left the UMAT there were parents with cameras taking videos/photos of us.

Not sure about medication though.

Thanks Shenz0r. So just to clarify, parents can't get past the brick gate, meaning that there'll be a fence separating the kids from them, yeah? Strange question I know, but trying to prepare myself mentally. And seriously, videos?  ???

Answer to the medication qn. would be appreciated, as I'm prone to headaches.  :)
